I have been listening, watching and studying Kenny's videos for more than 18 months now. I purchased Reaper because of these fascinating and informative videos. I haven't used Reaper yet, despite purchasing it nearly a year ago. This is not a reflection on the product in any way. Due to long term illness I just haven't had the strength to sit at a workstation. However, even if I am never able to use a DAW again; Mr Gioia's videos have been well worthwhile in teaching me a whole bunch of things that have been a pleasure to learn. I think that his tutorials have been well worth the price of Reaper. There should be awards and/or reviews of this work as a standalone piece of highly useful educational material.

When Kenny teaches anything, I never assume I already know the subject, and proceed to disregard any intended information. Even the simplest of his lessons illuminate lightbulbs on a constant basis. Kenny is a genius with regard to Reaper and its' capabilities!! Cheers fella!!

Thanks for explaining the add tap feature in ReaDelay, I was wondering how to do that. The more I learn about Reaper's built-in effects, the less I want to look for third-party VST. An engineer I know just told me he bought two more reverbs on sale recently. He uses Sonar Platinum. Plug-ins are one heck of a rabbit hole! 🐰

Love your videos Kenny and have watched almost all of them! One little random thought that occurs. If you've not already done it, a video that explains why you might use one Reaper Fx option in preference to another would be useful. For example, in this video you use Reverbate, but there is another reverb in Reaper Fx. Similarly with compressors etc. It would be interesting to know what each option is best used for. Also, it would be interesting to hear more about how well Reaper Fx stand up to 3rd party plugins both in sound quality and in CPU performance etc

Kenny you and your channel are a gem...I mean that! Thanks! A question I would be most appreciated if you can answer. I'm a guitar player and cover songs using multiple tracks ..i.e lead part, chorus, bridge etc..do i add reverb to each track or only after i render all the files together then add it? I know there may be different ways but what is the 'industry standard way'? cheers

Exceptional !! I'm a rather newbie to all of this. This video is by far the best I've seen, the subject content and how it's presented. I really like the samples he works with, they are looped simple sounds that allows you to hear the changes he makes with the FX chosen. I don't think it was intentional but I finally learned what "sends" are. THANK YOU KENNY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for all of your videos. You are a godsend for providing this all for free. They have been a great help for me waking up some old skills and learning all new ones. I do have a question: compression techniques confuse me. I see you're in the red while trying to make your drums pop. In VO I'm learning that being in the red is bad. Why is the meter ever in the red and would that be a problem with distortion or clipping in your final mix?

Kenny, another question regarding effects: I just purchased Bias Amp 2 Pro and am having a hard time adjusting the wet sound of the effect while monitoring. I still have a lot of the dry sound of my guitar. I know in the effects window there's a wet control, but even with it all the way up, I still get the dry sound of my guitar which is annoying while recording. Once the track is recorded, there is no dry sound. Any advice?
@MarkFromHawaii2 жыл бұрын
I figured it out. I had to turn input monitoring off on the output of my Focusrite Clarett. There's just a bit of latency though but I can live with it. The only advantage of the Bias Amp 2 with Bias FX 2 Pro is re-amping post-recording. Otherwise, using my multi-FX hardware with amp modelling is much easier.

@MarkFromHawaii2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kenny. I've been using mostly the Scarlett Red effects that came with my Focusrite AI. I didn't realize how sophisticated the Reaper and JS effects were. What is the best way to remove annoying fret squeaks on electric bass? Would it be EQ or gate or both? Thanks.
@REAPERMania2 жыл бұрын
Probably EQ.
@timkontos85202 жыл бұрын
Hey Kenny, have you encountered amp sims that override track volume? I can split a track into segments, adjust the segment volume with the handle, use track volume envelope, and track volume pre-fx envelope and they all only work as expected before i add my amp sim to the fx. Once the amp sim is added, the track volume handle does nothing, and the envelopes raise and lower the amp sim gain/effect, but not the volume.. have you seen this before?

Great video again! A little off topic but I am wondering is there any quick way that you can separate drums created in a single midi track with a drumkit so the snare will be on it's own track, kick, hats, toms etc. ?
I think now Cokos should upgrade ReaEq, and give the db option for any band.

One thing that keeps throwing me is Reaper and other companies' plugins seem to have different ways of graphing EQ and such, and it's not obvious why or how to compare what you're seeing considering they all look different. Take ReaEQ vs. ReEQ or Melda's various EQs or whatever. Is "100hz" in one plugin really the same thing as "100hz" in the other? Same goes for "+6db" or whatever. Where exactly is your level and how much are you adding or subtracting if they're all showing you different numbers for the same signal? If I had years of experience in plugins maybe I could figure out what's going on, but as a beginner it's just confusing.
@REAPERMania2 жыл бұрын
100Hz or 6dB should be the same thing. Each EQ has it's own curves so they may sound different but they're still targeting the same areas.
