I think that Sans is the best Reapertale character cause: He's an optimist and a pessimist simultaneously, He never stops looking for Toriel even after he knows that she was killed which ultimately leads him to finding her nearly departed soul, When he searches for the "Golden Flower" he looks in the one and only sanctuary made by Life that wasn't already afflicted by death and therefor becoming the love of Life.

Monster, the way I see it, he is the lighter side of death. Towards the end, it shows Paps talking to the souls and leading them and whatnot, whereas Sans is shown as reaping the corrupted souls. So, I perceive Papyrus as the “good” side of death. Kind of like how someone suffering wishes for death and when they are granted that death, they are relieved.
