+dadbadooba I'd drill four little holes (3/8) on the front of the drum right on the area below the five bolts and close enough to the edge of the drum (just about 3/4 of an inch from the outside ring of the drum) holes to be drilled 4 or 5 inches apart (must calculate the area where the shoe brakes are installed to get right on the metal part of the shoe) do not drill to damage shoes brakes but enough to get thru the disc. introduce a tip of an old screw driver to push gently the emergency shoes brakes back, by taping on the metal part of the shoe gently, at the same time pull the drum out... why 4 holes of 3/8 of a inch, because I want to keep in place the shoe brakes cause is a little complicated to put the shoes back in place if they fall apart. they are hard to take down because water with time damage the inside part of the drum and make it very rusty. the drums are easy to drill metal is soft.

Awesome video straight forward. My question is do you open brake resvoir before doing job or at all? All videos on youtube show right rear brake replacement is left side just as easy? Thinking about doing my own rear brakes on 2010 jeep liberty you make it look easy thank you

Does it matter which way you put the 4 metal shims back in the caliper mounting bracket. I ask bcuz it seemed as if you placed the 2 top shims in facing opposite each other and the bottom 2 shims facing the same outward direction.

When I pulled mine off and replaced, the springy tab (?) faces away from the rotor. I’m not sure if it matters. I also opened the brake fluid reservoir and removed fluid when it rose up as I compressed the brake caliper piston.

I was told that there is something you have to do to "Air lines" or you wont be able to get parts off? Due to anti lock brakes?

Great job BUT you missed a very crucial and IMPORTANT part. The adjustments on the shoes for emergency brake. I know how to do this but if you don't know how to do pads and rotors people you will be afraid when you first drive the vehicle and wonder what you did wrong. Those emergency brake shoes are VERY likely to rub even with no emergency brake applied. Take it from a professional. I mean no offense by my comment.

Do you replace the clips for the rotors?

No because the clips are only for assembly process when the vehicle is built at the manufacturing plant and do not need to be replaced.

Not that helpful. For someone with little experience, the video does not explain key details nor does it show which pad is for which side, which orientation the clips go, just so many details glossed over. Sorry, not meant to be anything other than a critique of this video. I thought it was informative until I took off the old brakes and realized there is so much detail that you can't tell from this video...also, the while gear/spring release for the rotor? You really should lose the background music and provide actual detailed steps instead of relying on bad, dark camera work. Even pausing the video doesn't allow details to be seen because your hands are in the way! Just sort of a complete disaster of a video .. 🤦
