This is a very informative lecture by Prof Hanegraaff, whose work has been highly valuable to my own research in the field. My gratitude to Harvard Divinity School for bringing this to the public.

I really appreciate the line that Wouter is walking between a re-examination and restoration of the secret history of Western spirituality into the larger narrative of our culture and the over zealous speculation of psychedelic evangelists like Allegro, Wasson and others. Thank you for this enlightening lecture and conversation.

Absolutely how it happened. As an artist I can tell you, Imagination is how we communicate with the infinite, and the medicine of plants is given to us exactly for that purpose. The power grab of the church distorted everything sacred into “ drugs” , and now we have to reclaim the real religion of connection with Nature and through that, with our nature . I refuse to use the word drug when referring to entheogens. They are sacred medicine , period. I’m very impressed with this lecture and so happy to see how much things are changing in academia. Hats of to you, sir, for sharing this very important knowledge !

LOL "absolutely how it happened", "exactly fot that purpose", that's what artist can say, but scientist should not even think, because of methodology, you imagine, you do not think

"Altered states of consiousness" is a relative perspective to the concept of a "normal state of consiousness" which itself is "altered" when we eat food, drink, have sex, are faced with violence, creatively explore, etc... which are all "altered states of conciousness". There are no closed doors or paths to "altered states of consiousness". A thought "entertained" is an "altered state of consiousness". The more jarring the contrast from our own sense of "normal", experience will create a phychological "impression" or "trauma" depending on our interpretation of it (or narrative around it, however the case my be).

1:06:35 i recommend you too read orphic hymns translated by Thomas Taylor, every hymn has herb recipe of some sort, created for fumigation or libation etc. I believe some of those can be psychoactive.

A few points - in some fratern orders the youthful feminine practitioners are refered to as: Daughters (In addition, while here commenting the significance of envoking the 'resonance' of a 'ineffable' name is keyed in here - here in this content)

I know this sounds very profane and almost sacrilegious but Professor's Hanegraaff view of theurgy is very similar to how the gods came into existence and manifested themselves within the warhammer universe. I'm sure that wh took heavy notice of existing theurgy documents but what i found incredible is that Professor Hanegraaff "key" to theurgy or his perspective (and the ancient perspective) is the first time i ever heard someone to think theurgy was actually real for the user and then go and give detailed explanations of the processes underlying the ritual

1:28:05 Francis Yates actually wrote her book with many pre-assumptions, she pigeon-holed eg. Bruno as hermeticist, while he had never even used this word, but she skipped Lazarelli who was clear about his hermetic identity.

I have made Kyphi from recipes found on the internet. I have not noticed any narcotic type response, perhaps there are ingredients that they used that are no longer available.

@@arturhashmi6281 This is true, however, there was not just one recipe even in ancient times, so from what is known I would think I kept the spirit of it in my creation never the less. You have a good day

That man reads too fast, as if he can t wait to get to the end of his presentation or is possibly overexcited about sharing this admitedly fascinating knowledge! Some of us are not born english speakers but will follow just fine if the intervenant remembers to keep a decent pace, for everyone to assimilate both words and their profound sense! Unless of course he s really a priest and it s actually a form of initiation into the mysteries, so only those who can snap to it are worthy of receiving these valuable teachings ??? Thank you in advance with upcoming presentations...

Hi from Australia.. I'm watching this video dec 2022 n yes you are quite right! I watch my research, esoteric, podcasty, astrology deep dive videos at 1.5 speed with captions on. Some lectures are 4hrs long u know, I enjoy many subjects. I've gotten used to it. This absolute legend is the first narration I dialled back to normal speed. Ha. Intriguing subject. I think he's alto melodic I quite liked him, galloping flat out though Ur not wrong...! If u press the settings in the right corner top. Playback Speed has 1. Normal. .75. Slows his cadence down a quarter, can go even slower. Closed Captions too. You can loop the playback in settings now, anyways. His kungfu is powerful.. Agreed

For anyone interested in making contact and finding all this out for yourself.., You should pulse 2 half toroid magnetic vortex fields created from tesla-bifilar-pancake coils at 40hz equidistant from the pineal gland, while using 610-650nm polarized red light to increase blood-flow and ATP energy production while meditating. If a meditative state cannot be achieved utilize NMDA antagonists and iso-chronically modulated (at 5hz) pure sine-wave binaural tones at 428hz or 532hz. You either make contact or go into psychosis if your brain can't handle it. don't try this at home. do your own research. I am not responsible for people frying their head because they don't understand the intricacies of pulsed electronics or accidental contact with Angels or Demons who deem you unworthy and fuck with you. Analyze your own soul before starting this adventure. You have been warned.
