I use calculated columns when I need to test an idea multiple times. Once I have it figured out, I take the concept and put it into DataBricks and remove the columns. Have to maintain that Select * From #####, maintained.

As for me, I prefer to test an idea in power query. I feel it is easier to do and to debug vs DAX

@@kavinyudhitia Power Query is not flexible for some of the stuff I do. Plus the reload time after each test would be a nightmare.

DAX calculated columns are similar to Excel to test and validate data for building complex measures. They are not used in final solutions most of the time, but helps in local debugging of issues in dynamic calculations.
