Reasons for Turning to the Lord - C.H. Spurgeon Sermon | Prayer and Reflection
On the evening of January 13th, 1878, Charles Haddon Spurgeon delivered a deeply personal sermon, aware that his health was failing and that he would soon travel to Mentone, France, for recuperation. In this message, Spurgeon speaks candidly about God’s severe chastening, drawing from his own experience of physical suffering. Yet, he does so not only as a warning but also as an encouragement.
Spurgeon reminds us that, while God's chastening may be painful, it leads to a deeper closeness with God and eventual healing. In the midst of affliction, we can find a wonderful blessing-intimacy with the Father and restoration in His presence.
