Thank you for this version! I've been looking for one that includes the verse about myrrh, the third gift. It's supposed to foreshadow the crucifixion of Jesus, myrrh being used to embalm the bodies of the dead. People seem so squeamish about mentioning Jesus' death while singing of His birth. But it's part of the human experience, for which Jesus allowed himself to be born in mortal form, so He could see for Himself how humans live and die. Blessed be God forever!

It is so wonderful that, when this song is sung in full, it becomes, not just a Christmas song or an Epiphany song, but a song for the whole Christian year. Because the full song encompasses the Passion and the Resurrection, too.

Most versions leave out the "depressing" 4th verse, but it is essential to the song, which describes the significance of each gift. Then the 5th gift ties it all together "King, and God and Sacrifice". I LOVE this version is the point I'm trying to make here.

I love the vocals. It’s hard to put to words but the sound and stress has a calming and controlling sense to it. Love the snow, trees, and mountains. Growing up, a solid snow, followed by a cold clear day has a level of purity to the air. Just like this song.
