I was there. She did a show for IBM. I was on the audio crew. After the show I got on the elevator to go to my room. Reba and her manager got in the elevator. She said she didn't feel good and wanted to fly commercial the next day. The manager was fine with it. That decision saved her life. It was one of those moments I'll never forget.

@@Villytake56499 She had been provided a Hawker and Sabreliner corporate air crafts because this private show was in the middle of her regular tour and in order to do the private show she would need to fly privately so she could get to the West Coast and then back to the Midwest to rejoin her concert tour. She was looking at purchasing a private jet at the time because her tour schedule was going to be picking up due to her increasing tour schedule. Having just had a child she just wanted to be able to fly home after each show to Gallatin, TN so a private jet brokerage firm provided her these two jets to try out while going back-and-forth to this private show In hopes of selling her one of the two which she eventually did before starting her own private jet brokerage and leasing firm starstruck jet services. She and her band had planned to take private aircraft back to Indiana The entire time. Also the statement of being on the elevator with her in the hotel I do not believe either. Hotel security and artist management always move their artist through the hotel privately and/or with security. They would never allow her to share an elevator with regular hotel guest. That’s just the way it is. The closest you’ll ever get to an artist is maybe by sitting next to them in first class if you’re lucky. I worked at a booking agency at 40 Music Square W. and Nashville right behind starstruck entertainment, her entertainment firm if you would like to fact check me.

Daniel's explanation jives with what my father told me. I can't speak to any claims of meeting on the elevator, but it's fair to point out that the OP says he was on the audio crew, which isn't the same as being a "regular hotel guest."

Oh man ... a bunch of those killed in the crash were originally from St. Louis, MO. Before they joined Reba they were in a favorite local band 'Ralph Butler'. They could really play. I worked at one of the country's largest music stores at the time and remember those guys coming in to try out new gear. I especially remember bassist Terry Jackson ... a KILLER player that could play anything thrown his way. He was a sweet & kind person with a huge genuine smile. All he ever wanted to do was play and man he did. All those guys were top tier. Blessings to their families.

I went to school with Paula Evans. Even though we were sometimes in the same class, we hung out with different friends, so I didn't get to know her. But this I do recall: In gradeschool she always sang for talent shows. She was amazing!!! I couldn't believe how such a young girl could sound so very good! It is so sad that this befell her. May her family be comforted!

I knew Chris Austin when he was a teenager working as a stock boy at a grocery store in Boone,NC. He was one of the nicest kids you could ever meet, and super talented. Many of us local pickers had the opportunity to play with him at informal picking sessions before he became famous after being hired by Ricky Scaggs. I will never forget seeing the news report that morning telling of the loss of Chris and several members of Reba’s band. I have a CD that he had recorded but was not released. To my knowledge,only a few family members and friends have a copy. REST IN PEACE BUDDY

It was all those years ago but just less than an hour on God’s time piece... My condolences to the Families that lost loved ones.. Not sure why things happen like they do but have to trust God knows & One Day we will know the answer? I’m from OK & have seen her Family & how much they mean to her so I’m sure these lives were like brothers & sisters to her... I am surprised there is no lasting memorial at the crash site. I happened to come across it about ten years ago when I was off-roading in the area. I noticed a stake with a picture of the band. Five years later the stake had fallen and the picture was deteriorated beyond recognition. I was last at the site in 2020 and the area has become overgrown with bushes but there are still plane fragments scattered about.

It boggles the mind to think that two professional pilots are flying into high terrain around 3,000 feet elevation at night without clearance. Two hundred feet higher or a bit left or right and they would have made it. Screwed up communications with air traffic control was the big factor. 3,000 feet above mean sea level or 3,000 feet about ground level. Huge deadly difference in this case. More often than not these "accidents" are due to pilot error and should not be happening. Same Kobe Bryant, Same Buddy Holley, same Stevie Ray Vaughn and many others. Flying is safer in daytime and clear skies.

To the families of those lost during that fateful day I know it is hard to not only lose your loved ones but also to live each day with them in spirit instead of in the flesh is really rough.i know how that feels our hearts go out to each one of you.we lost my dad too soon.j am thankful that he at least saw his grandkids bf he passed but is not here for his great grands.so far he has .two girls and four boys for the greats.but two grands are with him in Heaven.and I am thankful that they have someone to keep them close ,(meaning someone within the family)you see for what ever reason I could not carry my boys.yes it hurts they are not here but everything works for the Greatness of God.it is His will to be done.i don't always understand but always accept what is His plan
