Our current rebaling setup still needs some tweaks, but we're getting there.

Very cool. So, how many squares are in a round bale? It is a age old question for me.
@adamgates98257 ай бұрын
Depends on cutting and type of round baler that made the bale. 4x5 solid core round bale makes 18-20 small squares

I've been told a 4x4 equals about 10 square bales

Why in the hell? Who in the world would rather handle those little bales 10 times vs putting them out with a tractor 🚜?

Thats probably pretty close for a 4x4 bale@@andywagner7234

Fuel is too cheap in your country if you can afford to bale hay twice.

It's ok if you can't understand the economics of production and sales. 🙂

We Have 200 acres of Hybrid Bermuda grass averages 10 4x5 round bales yearly from sometimes 4 cuts..... We Round bale, haul, stack under cover.... and rebale into small squares as needed.... The Harvesting method allows speed, the converting allows year round use of labor...... The freshly converted bales have a fresher look than field baled, and stored bales..... Last year we sold almost 50,000 "converted" small squares......... In 6 years of doing hay this way we have had 10 acres damaged by Rain.... that is 24 cuttings 6 weeks apart, over 6 years..... " But after looking at his operation, He does have a lot of tractors involved,,,,, We use 3,,,,,,, 5075 W /loader andspear loading rounds jn, a 4020 powering entire rebaling System, A 5065 w/loader and pallet forks putting Bale Baron Bundles in trailer........

@@farmingforfunandprofit940 The one tractor is just there connected to the unroller so it's easier to move when we set up and tear down. It's not running. Baler tractor runs the baler and the hydraulics for the unroller and conveyor. the other tractor running the stack wagon is just idling with the pto running so not any more power units than you're running.

@@aopmonster I see. My Bad! The old 4020i is powering the Baler thru the Baron 3 point hitch Hydraulic power unit, 1000 in, 540 out.... The tractor hydraulics are running the Simpson conveyors Did you notice the tires were changed on the little 5045E we spec it that way so it would fit inside the swinging door trailers with the Ropes up..... real close on roll up door trailers..... Our system was under a shed when we bought it, We used the same set up in the field once, but found it required just about as much help to get it under cover as it did baling it... Where as One good rake operator cab keep 2 balers occupied... My Son likes Speed, laying it down Curing it out, Rolling it up, Hauling it home, Etc.....

your burning A LOT of fuel to make all that happen
@aopmonster6 ай бұрын
I guess from an outsider view point maybe. Only 2 of those tractors are running in the video and only one is even close to pto speed so the other is just idling. In our market small bales are worth over double per ton what rounds are. Rounds can be made faster in the field, which is important in our climate and I can buy rounds very cheaply in my area so the fuel burned here and time spent well outweigh the input costs of the operation.
