For R299 990(R41000 less than this), you can get a baleno GLX, with FULL electric windows, Electric mirrors, auto climate control, 360 degree cameras, heads-up display, 4 year service plan, 200k warranty. Brand loyalty aside, anyone who buys this car needs to have their heads checked..and they need to have a budget for New lights when they inevitably get stolen😂

At the end of the day it’s all about preference bro… some people don’t just get in a car to drive from point A to B.. Another example, there’s people that bought the insanely expensive new Audi A1s that have even been discontinued because of how expensive they are… one would say why not rather get into an A3? But because of preference and how beautiful the A1 looks, people that fell in love with it went for it… so just allow people to do as they please with their monies… ake lwane my bra 😉

5 years ago VW would've been the only car on my list to buy...But after coming across Reba,Mr how much and Muzi i'm now more open minded when it comes to cars...You guys changed my whole mindset about cars in general. Notification gang ❤ This car is almost premium for it's level. It's easy to see why this is such a popular car, easy to drive, probably easy to maintain, it's a looker and it's easy on fuel. The only downsides for me is that I'd be on edge driving this because abolova also like this car 💀 and the price almost doesn't justify it's case.

When you compare the cost of ownership for these cars including fuel they will be almost the same. So people should not look at it from a point of installment only, if you pay more then you recover on fuel. Pay less the spend more on fuel. So why would i go for a balance of power and consumption which is Polo VIVO GT.

My first car is this Polo when it was launched in 2010. At the time, it was the budget hatch. Turned heads and I still have it 14 years later. It has 280k mileage but still drives like a dream. Never given me issues. Fuel economy like a dream. Bought a comfort line with cruise control, hill hold assist and reverse parking sensors. Full electric windows back and front…all for R180k at the time. Can’t believe that it goes for R340k now. Car prices are ridiculous. I have an X6 M50D and Range Rover Sport but I’ll never sell my Polo. The manual gearbox is still the best I have used!!!

I like how I'm not the only one who struggles in lower speeds in 2nd gear and has to change back to 1st .. I suppose it's the life of a GT owner but you do eventually get used to it and know your way around it

O jika ka one because of the turbo lag. My brother drives the 1.2 highline with a similar engine and it has the same issue after gear 3 the turbo kicks in and yeerrr, it moves. I would get the Renault Clio 5 because of its built quality and it drives quite well. The Baleno GLX manual would be an option as well.

Yeah I get that having to switch from higher gear to first I only experienced it in the 1.0l tsi engine...the 1.2 tsi engine is pretty much like that naturally aspirated 1.4 just that that 1.2tsi packs much more torque 👍

i would say the 1.4 comfortline is the best value for money. Its punchy and fully equiped. if you want rims you can get replica GTI wheels and still have alot of change. This is abit overpriced for my liking

This is still a great vehicle, the fact that VW had to revisit this generation says a lot. Everything has its pros and cons, the real issue starts when you compare the price vs what you get.

When you buy this Polo, its for street cred, its looks, fact that its a VW and the engine it comes with. If you are after features and you want low theft risk then a Baleno/ Startlet makes more sense. 20k Subs loading...

Awesome review Reba. i have owned a Polo Vivo manual 1.6 highline. i think its also pricey but least you get the cruise control and only small differences. its the perfect balance of enough power and efficiency and it might be underpowered compared to TSI top range vivo but its definately a very efficient punch motor. but for the money, im sorry VW SA but suzuki is taking your customers just based on price because both are efficient so thats not a factor price is. i would own one again Albeit the stealing of "vehicle lights and stuff"

Personally, as clichéd as it is, I'd take a Baleno, for the price and the tech, however, the GT is not a bad car at all! and that engine, and those LEDs, if the Baleno didn't exist, my money would go there. Lol. Not a Suzuki(toyota) speeding next to you😅😅

I doubt the Baleno drives as nicely and solidly as this, especially long distance on the freeway. Also that engine is very powerful. The Baleno can't compete with it there, only on tech does it make more sense.
