Commented on 3-5 things in the first half of my life. Stumbled across Grandmother on a Focal test cd when playing with my audio gear and then had to look up the artist and her live performances. A skill and genuine talent/passion that can't be duplicated. The perfect combination of powerful and feminine. Many times I wonder why true talent is not more recognized, but maybe that's the point. The people that see your performances are truly lucky.

You do those Beatles songs so well. The guitar sounds balanced and the voice is just right! Thank you Rebecca 👍 Y'all know the story, right? Half of the English pop scene had gone to Rishikesh to sit at the feet of the master to learn transcendental meditation. Needless to say, there were groupies... and plenty of drugs. This is how I heard the story: Sometime late in the morning everybody was out and about except Prudence Farrow, Mia's sister, who had taken a bad trip the night before and apparently was still suffering from it, being afraid to leave her room. So, in an attempt to lure Prudence out into the light, he sang this song outside her window.
@rebeccapidgeonmusic6 ай бұрын
Gosh no I didn’t know the story in such detail. Wow. You know I’ve been to Rishikesh but for some silly reason I didn’t visit the temple where the Beatles went. I dunno- maybe I just wanted to keep it in my imagination.
@ricklee58456 ай бұрын
@@rebeccapidgeonmusic Yes, I understand that sentiment very well. Maybe it was for that reason that I never visited Rishikesh or Kashmir. I went pretty much everywhere else over the span of several years, India kept pulling me back. As a guitar player yourself, you might have shared my dream of somehow managing to carry with you or send a Sitar back home. 🎵

Hey Rebecca, you know I have seen a remarkable improvement in your guitar skills in the past three months. People don't realize too, that it takes talent to sing and play at the same time, especially a song like this. I haven't played this tune in a while and seeing you play it made me want to work it back up again, so thanks. You are sounding beautiful. Good to see you.

Nice. One of my all-time favorites. My brother Kevin bought The White Album back in late 68 or early 69 when I was eight and I listened to that one album (I didn't 'discover' the one with Helter Skelter, etc until high school) over and over for many months. This and 'I Will' were my two favorites on it back then, still are. And it's a really fun and tricky song to play. I didn't learn to properly fingerpick until I'd been playing for about 25 years, I chose this and Julia as the songs to learn that technique with. I had a great book with Beatles tabs, so it didn't take TOO long. It's hard to not get dead strings or that vibrating sound when playing this, it's probably a little bit easier with the slightly wider neck. Doing a jam session with friends tonight, gonna have to revive this one! We've done it a few times. Ah, the sound of that jet flying back into the USSR as the Dear Prudence intro starts up - memories! You pick some great Beatles songs to play. I'm a lifelong Beatles addict - yes, it's an addiction, and a great one. I have vague memories of seeing them on Ed Sullivan and I was hooked immediately. My jam friends were joking last week that I was trying to turn our jam sessions into a Beatles tribute. :) We do this, Rain, Ticket To Ride, Please Please Me, the medley starting with Golden Slumbers, You Never Give Me Your Money, All My Loving, DOn't Let Me Down, Oh Darling, Eight Days A Week,,,, I guess maybe they're right!
@rebeccapidgeonmusic6 ай бұрын
Ah! A fellow Beatles addict! Salutations. I was thinking the songs give us such joy when we listen (over and over) , but then when we play them we realize at a deeper level what masterpieces they are, and we kind of “live” inside them. So wonderful. Great songs and such a gift to the world. Have fun with your band!!!
@NoviJimB6 ай бұрын
@@rebeccapidgeonmusic I've said this many times over the years - my life would not have been the same without The Beatles. Truly. The love of their music, their inspiration, the appreciation for their creativity, the sharing of the music with friends and family... As soon as they came along my older siblings were buying those albums as they came out. We saw them on TV. We saw the movies as soon as they started showing them on TV. My two sisters and I (we were the 2nd 'batch' of kids) were (and are) huge fans. We would play a 'game' where we pretended we were The Beatles and talked with English accents (what I wouldn't give for video of that). We watched the cartoons. Once I started playing guitar I learned the songs, and play them to this day. One of my favorite childhood memories is buying 'Meet The Beatles'. For some reason, when I was about 9 and my sister 7, our parents gave us money to buy an album, we can't remember why, it was a one time thing. Our brother had moved out of the house with his 'Meet The Beatles' album in 1966, so we both immediately knew what we wanted, we didn't even have to discuss it. We walked up to Wards, bought the album, and wore it out over the next year or two. Whenever I get into Beatles discussions I have hard time stopping!
