Mark, I was an addictions counsellor for 11 years. I had a client whose drug of choice was also meth. Counsellors shouldn’t have favourite clients but sometimes we do. He was my favourite. He showed up for sessions with me for 7 months and did zero work. He just showed up to chat and resisted all change. It wasn’t until I told him I could no longer see him for sessions because it appeared I was not able to help him at this time that things moved forward. He left my office in tears. Two weeks later he contacted me and said he was ready to do the work, and he did. I pray for Rebecca this will happen as well. You did the right thing, Mark.

Finally! It takes a long time and we all have our breaking point. Some just take longer. I was with an addict for fourteen years, always hoping he’d get clean. He promised, said he wanted to, went to rehab, AA, sober living, you name it. He’s still not clean and never will be! Rebecca hasn’t done any of this, and has constantly said he has no desire to stop drugs. All he wants is a hand out. Give me this, give me that! The self entitlement is hard to watch.

My best friend was strung out, horribly like Rebecca. Denied years of help, therapy, you name it. It got to a point where I could no longer sit and watch him die. The last time I saw him, it was a similar interaction like Mark and Rebecca. I told him I loved him, but I couldn’t sit and watch him kill himself. If he really wanted to help, he would have to get himself together. Asked why I couldn’t look at him, and I said I could not have my last memory of him being so far gone. I gave him the biggest hug I could, told him I loved him, and reminded him like I always did if you need me no matter what time, to call me. Two days later, I received a call from his mom. She was letting me know he was gone. An event that permanently altered my brain chemistry. As much as I absolutely love Rebecca and want the best, enough is enough. Mark, you’ve done all you can do. You, your team, everyone. It’s time to walk away 💔

THIS USED TO BE ME. Same mannerisms, same behavior, exactly to a T. This is how I acted on bad speed. I have videos of me acting EXACTLY like this. This used to be me. Now I own a home, have a job, drive a nice car, have money in the bank that I don't blow immediately. I have no lasting effects except for a little bit of psychological trauma just from remembering how bad I got and the state of my life at that time. Seems like another world completely. But I don't live there anymore. Redemption is still possible. It's not too late for Rebecca. It's never too late as long as he has breath in his lungs.

@@shorty4872 well the first thing is that I knew I didn't want to be like that anymore. I don't think he's there yet, but anyway, I went to the doctor and got put on massive amounts of antidepressants, and then I literally left town with just a suitcase. You have to remove yourself from the situation and the temptations. He's not going to get clean on the streets, because all of The temptations and old habits remain. I walked out my door in florida, got a ride to North carolina, where I could stay with family until I got on my feet, and never looked back. if I hadn't literally removed myself from that situation, I would still be there. You have to take drastic measures. But make no mistake, as severe and debilitating as an addiction is, as long as you're still above ground, there's hope. And I really wish people would understand that addiction really is a disease. He can't help it. It's not something he can just stop doing. It's a physiological condition, addicts have brains that are structured completely differently, and you can actually see the differences in the brain with the naked eye on an MRI. It's an actual hereditary illness, not a choice. And there's also chemical imbalances in the brain. That's why antidepressants are necessary. If I hadn't gotten put on a massive antidepressants, I would have never had the mental willpower or clarity to cut ties and leave. But again, you have to want it. And I'll say it one more time, an addict is NEVER past all hope. As long as they're breathing, there's still hope. I was him.

Good on you. Take care of yourself, it's a mean world out there. I went through severe domestic abuse as a child and I paid the price as an adult through self destructive behavior. I finally tried suicide which failed, thankfully, and I got my shit together. We are our own worst enemies most days. I’ve never wanted to see someone succeed in life as bad as I do with Rebecca. I pray for a day, I will see a video of her sober and clean, psychologically well enough to be able to have a sex change. She has so much potential and is so smart and interesting. I hate to see her this deep into addiction and bad off with her mental health. I was addicted to drugs for years and im 3 years sober. My DOC was fentanyl, IV. But I used meth quite a few times and felt I was going crazy after a couple days of use, I can’t imagine that work you have to put in to reprogram your brain after regular years of use. Rebecca has to want it for herself and I pray so much for her to get to the other side of this. You can tell she’s truly a good person inside and all she wants to be is understood. My heart seriously breaks for her. Addiction is so much deeper than “a choice”. It’s a disease, mental health disorder. She needs to seek help and hope she reaches whatever point it will take for her to get there.

Hey Mark, I work in a helping role, I see people like Rebecca everyday, the despair is real and devastating in our world right now. I get compassion fatigued! When a course of action doesn't work and/or it is still not the thing that is helping my participants turn a corner into a better state of mind, I go back a couple steps and go to the basics, lets refresh and restart, this is so common and a part of the process, as soon as it starts getting real they get scared and pull back, focus on the moment Rebecca is making good choices, in those small moments she is clean and engaging with you, how did you stay clean for an hour? then next time lets make it 2 hours, to the point where they are in the detox ward and not trying to sabotage, its called a solution-focused approach. You are at this point doing the job of a social worker. It is worth the effort if it means just one person is off the streets and living again.

@@JustBree716 I didn't have body dysmorphia. I had gender dysphoria. No. They are not the same. Gender dysphoria isn't just about feeling overweight or a lack of control in one's life. It's a plethora of different feelings. There are studies that show brain mapping of a transgender person corresponds more to their desired gender than their born sex. This isn't just a mental condition that can possibly be helped with therapy or an inpatient program. Not only that. I rarely experience that same feeling now that I am on hormone therapy. Three days into my first dose there was a dramatic and positive mental change that couldn't have possibly been 'in my head'. Because I had no outward changes yet. It had only been 3 days. I felt like I was high because I felt so calm. Like my brain was finally working how it was supposed to. I had way less anxiety. That is not the same as a purely mental condition. It was chemical and physical. Now fuck off, thanks.

This poor human being is worried about all the wrong things if transitioning is so important to Rebecca then Rebecca needs to become stable to do those things. No safe health practitioner would or could do anything to help Rebecca with transitioning whilst in this state, she would need appropriate mental health care, home stability and proper therapy in a constant basis before transitioning could ever occur. This is more than just the effects of Meth usage this is poor mental health that the body has turned into a tornado of a human being. It needs to be chipped away at one small thing and symptom at a time. Early in the video Rebecca replied saying she’s not really scared but she looked so frightened. Living minute to minute as she has for so long makes the prospect of any route forward seem impossible. She has her end goal dream life scenario but she just cannot join the dots to get there. She’s exceptionally lonely & appears to admit that more & more. You know sometimes you end up sitting beside someone in public & it’s a slog holding small talk with them. If you are able to tell Rebecca one thing, I seriously doubt anybody would ever think that if they ended up beside Rebecca on a good day. She’s a natural conversationalist, super interesting & has such a huge range of knowledge. What can seem like ramblings to us at times, is just all the conversations Rebecca has with herself suddenly finding a home, someone to say them to. Imagine how amazing that must feel for her. It’s like the old folks speaking to checkout staff at the supermarket. For many it’s the only conversation they have, that 5-10 minutes once a week. Same with people who have lost their partners & as a way to cope they still chat to them as though they’re still there. Add in the fact Rebecca is highly intelligent, she needs that interaction.

I don’t normally comment but this comment got me. As the ex of an abusive heavy meth user, I COMPLETELY agree. That is the drugs. There is no talking, no understanding, and no reasoning. My ex used to talk with such confidence, but it would be completely nonsense babble bs. The extent he believes and would try to convince me of fantasies is insane. I’m 24 now. I met him when I was 19 and I believe I was about 22 when I really realized how deep and real that drug and those fantasies are.‼️Understanding when to not engage or enable when they’re in this state is Important if you choose to continue staying in their lives. They start to get comfortable with showing that side of them and it can be more damaging to them and relationships. My ex traumatized me in ways I don’t know if I’ll ever forget. FROM THAT DRUG. I knew anytime I heard that long ahh whiff to put my armor on because a storm was coming . As of today, I learned to forgive him but I have absolutely no ties with him. Knowing him for so long and seeing all the sides of him makes it hard to let people go. When you add in the fact it’s the meth talking. My sister did so many drugs that she eventually needed a kidney. I was the one to give it to her. I found out years later (after she died) that she did meth in the parking lot before leaving the hospital with her new organ. You just can't fix people no matter how much you love them. In our country, the only way to help is to offer your nonjudgemental attention. I had to let my daughter spiral down in front of my eyes, end up homeless, hitting rock bottom while her friends died around her. It was the hardest thing i ever did in my life because I wanted to rescue her like you want to rescue Rebecca. It took giving her over to God and trusting Him with her very life. She hit rock bottom and called me, stating that she was " tired of feeling so dirty." She walked herself over to detox when she had had enough, but ever then, as soon as she got out, she tried to score heroin. She was picked up by the police, and when i got there, i begged the judge to keep her in jail until she could get a bed in the rehab program. It took 9 months to get in. She got clean in jail, went into the program, and has been clean for 8 years now. She just graduated with her associates degree and is on her way to become a drug addiction counselor. Tough love is what Rebecca needs.

And that’s the part well meaning people miss. Recovery is not for people who need it. It’s for people who WANT it. There’s a recovery group that operates in DTLA, Skid Row Drifters. Not sure if they still do or not, but they had meetings on Sundays in Gladys Park. I know someone who used to live on Skid Row, got clean and sober on Skid Row, and has stayed that way for the last 32 years. You can get clean and sober anywhere if you sincerely want it.

She clearly freaked out ( the demons will cause an addicted person to binge use the day they really need to be halfway sober) she so needs deliverance prayer and the help of The Most High God,not the false idol he has claimed is god Madonna! Mark, you talk to Rebecca about her doing a KZbin channel - I think if she *ever* decided to get clean, she could use that platform to document her journey to health and it could help a lot of people go through the same experience. This level of addiction is so very terrifying. I wish she'd just move away from skid row and have no access to whatever she's taking. Maybe she'd finally take some time for herself and realise just how much you've done to help her fix herself. I think you've done everything you could do to help her. Sadly, it hasn't been recognised or appreciated. It must be heartbreaking for you

It’s very telling how cocky and combative Rebecca was with Mark until he said he was going to walk away, and then he began to manipulate and guilt trip him. I feel like Mark has been manipulated by Rebecca for years and I stopped watching the Rebecca videos some time ago because I found it so uncomfortable to watch. You’ve absolutely done the right thing, Mark.

There are a couple points that we need to take into consideration: 1) they are NOT his children; 2) he records these videos with their permission; 3) he uses the proceeds to help these individuals so he can provide temporary housing, food, telephones, necessities, etc.
