Actually, CN cut a season from the original show. Doing the movie and Future was their compromise for how to get those episodes back as way to clean the slate so other markets wouldn't have to localize the wedding scene. I'm pretty upset about this because I would have loved to have another season of the original show.

No one, in the history of ever, had ever faced such disproportionate hatred for the most bad faith reading of a series. Because the show ended in a way where the abusers were given an opportunity to do something good, and they did, this whole fandom of lemmings read it as a sympathetic take on fascism? This was never about politics, but family. It was never about supremacy between people, but the sibling stratification and golden children as compared to black sheep. And she did everything she could, as much as possible, to be true to her fans and give them the story they deserved despite the constant push back and punishment of the network. And that was the thanks she got. She deserved so much better

I’m amazed. One of my favorite songs from Steven Universe has a full version. It’s not worse than the original. It was done by Rebecca sugar. It still resonates with me on a personal level. It’s still one of 3 songs able to make me cry 🥹

After having finished this show years ago, I still find myself coming back and listening to its songs to cheer me up. Today I found the full version of this song after having believed that it was meant to be short, to drive home its message as a goodbye from young Steven. It still upholds its message but it's so much stronger to me now with those extra verses. So human in that it shows the doubts seeping in, how people's perception of you does affect you no matter how strong you are. It's being human. But to persevere and choose kindness (for others and for ourselves), that's what Steven Universe is all about. I'll always be thankful to Rebecca for making this show and so grateful that it helped shape me throughout my teen years. Even now as an adult, I still relearn self-love through this.
