Fall & Christmas Mini Sessions Tips

Hey Rebecca I know this video is older but I’ve been needing this! Can you tell me or possibly do a video on the day of process. Like say how you keep everything organized, any special or specific tricks you do to keep it together, do you use a client sheet for each one, do you take breaks between each client, do you give them session cards or gallery cards before they leave? 😮 I’m so nervous as my first minis are coming up Dec 10. I’m both excited and nervous bc I feel like I need a better day of plan! Thanks so much

Great questions! So for organization, I have every mini-session spot scheduled out in my Google calendar, and I use an Apple Watch face with my calendar synced so I can quickly glance and see who is next. Then when I go to edit, I just organize my files in order based on my calendar events. I do my minis back-to-back and do not give a gallery card at the end. Please can you share with me how you ask the Christmas tree vendors that you want to use their location?

We just call them or send them an email asking about their policy for photographers! Most tree farms already have a plan in place and will let you know how you can book time.

I just offered my first mini sessions this fall, I offered 10 images in a 15 minute session....I started in the beginning of August for sessions on the 22nd of September, I advertised and reposted on Facebook at least 2-3 times a week in groups and on my page and etc.(I don't have an email list yet) And I got NOTHING, not a single booking! I was so disappointed! I am not sure what to do next....its so confusing...not a single booking after nearly 2 months?

Does shootproof have a way to keep clients from screenshotting those additional images (even with a watermark)? I love this idea but I've had people that will even screenshot the watermarked images in order to get out of paying

Hi Rebecca! Love your training on mini sessions! I've been using Shootproof for a while and have a question about the upselling. How do you deliver the low resolution images for clients to use for social media when doing the upselling? When setting up my shopping cart the only option is for high res images to be automatically delivered to clients once they purchase. But I don't want them using high res images when sharing on social media due to compression issues. Also, how do you prevent then forwarding their gallery to family members and then family members download 5 different images (Basically a loophole so they get all the images in the end) I hope my questions make sense! Thank you

I only deliver high-res images and have never had a problem. For the family member forwarding, you can set it up so only the linked contact can download 5! No one else will be able to. I require them to put in their email to log into their gallery.

What about outdoor mini sessions? Let’s say I book a full day of outdoor fall sessions and it starts raining? Do I have to rebook all those sessions again?

We start shooting fall sessions in the first week in September! Leaves haven’t turned yet, but some people will book anyway so we don’t want to waste that time waiting for leaves.

Great informative video! I love the way you explain every step. Question- How do you let them view the extra images? I know shootproof, but do you just watermark edited images? What if they just screenshot and post, do you do anything then?

Shootproof has a setting where it can automatically watermark the images for me. Then if they buy extras, it gives them the digitals without the watermark!

Hi! How do you obtain your sample photos for advertising? If you shoot ahead of time the colours won't be the same as when you schedule the actual session..

True the colors won’t be the same, but that’s ok! It’s about having shots in your portfolio at that location so people get an idea of what it’ll look like.

Wonderful advise! Do you require your clients to pay just the retainer when they book or pay for the entire mini session at the time of booking?
