With a conventional touring bike, it is important to weight the front wheel, but as I have never loaded my fat bike, I’ll take your advice. Normally when I’m ski touring I use back country huts or a snow cave. Either way, I don’t need a sleeping bag of that caliber. I also use an bivy sack. I’m guessing you are not riding in the mountains, which is the reason you are not using snow caves. I have used snow caves with temps as extreme as -37, but of course it is quite a bit warmer in the cave. I strongly suggest you try a goretex bivy sack. It will greatly increase the warmth of your bag and snow will not get between your bag and your mattress. I use the bivy sack in the fall and spring as it will keep the moisture off your bag.

Thanks, didn't know/think about the mechanical vs hydraulic fluid freeze.
@RebeccaRusch3 жыл бұрын
I didn't know that before either!!
@geraldprost92542 жыл бұрын
Modern hydraulic brakes use DOT fluid which does not freeze.

Great shear TY. What's a good water prof coat and pants for extreme activity and rain ? I hear some of them can breath and keep you dry.
@RebeccaRusch2 ай бұрын
Lots of companies make great water proof pants for aerobic activity: Patagonia, The North Face and others. Just be sure the foot opening is big enough to pull on and off over your boots because you don't want to take your boots off in the winter! Many also have zips to vent on the side, so if you get sweaty you can let the heat out. Goretex is still the best fabric for waterproof, lightweight and breathable.

Do you have a packing list?
@RebeccaRusch5 ай бұрын
I do use a packing list for all expeditions. Essential for organizing. However the list changes based on the expedition. You gotta make your own because it’s pretty personal. I break the list up by clothing, bike gear, cook stuff, personal items , food

Makes sense. I am prepping and have a few tweaks that I am working on. A lot of the kit spills over from my last Denali Expedition.
@RebeccaRusch5 ай бұрын
@@robertpage9004 100%! I keep a basic template for expeditions and then add and take away based on the details of the trip. Your Denali expedition is the perfect starting point for a fat biking expedition. Have fun planning!

Is it allowed to pull a sled or something like that?
@RebeccaRusch3 жыл бұрын
yes you can pull a sled, but it' be impossible on the snow with the bike. The skiers and hikers pull sleds for this event.
