YOUR HUSBAND'S NOTE. You guys are adorable!!! Question for your Q&A : were you and Murphy both minimalists when you met? If not, did you make the transition together? (I'm sorry if that was answered in one of your previous videos.)

I love your bag! I have too many bags, I decluttered them earlier this month but I want to do it again after seeing this. Realistically I only need 3 bags (work, days out with kids, days out without kids which means less stuff!!) I think I’m going to be more brutal and get to it!

Something for you to maybe think about. . . I broke down and got a pair of prescription sunglasses a few years ago, (I used frames I already had, which cut down on cost) and I can honestly say it is some of the best money I have ever spent! Also the little flip up sunglasses that attach to your script glasses are an option. Thank you for another great video!

Q&A question: 1) What do you do for a living right now, after you have settled down? 2) Have you always been minimalist? If not, what made you change your atitude? 3) Does the fact that you are both minimalists make you work less than other people and let you spend more time on other things? Thanks :) PS. I like a lot your energy :)

Wow, I so needed to find your channel. I subscribed after coming across your head shaving video last week but didn’t have a chance to watch any others. One of my friends referred to me as an extreme recycler lol I only use cruelty free products, never purchase anything with leather and I’m vegetarian, but I know I have a lot of room for improvement. I use too much plastic and I know it. I’d never think of carrying utensils. I’m excited to watch more of your video!

I’ve been curious on your journey to minimalism. I can only assume it stemmed from the desire to travel in the van. How do you get others, such as family and friends to understand that as a minimalist you don’t need gifts. Although I am not a minimalist I have taken a practical approach to things I truly need and struggle to get people to understand when I say I don’t need a gift for the holidays I mean it. Aside from the topic of minimalism I would like to know why you and Murphy chose a VW bus? Was it a vehicle you already owned? Personally I love the bus and would love to one day either get to ride in one or at least have my picture taken beside one! Do you meal prep or even just plan ahead or do you wing it day to day? This is something else I would like to get better about doing. Have you started growing some produce now that you are in a house? Can’t wait for the q&a 👍

Hello, I'm new to your channel - just subscribed. I smiled when you said that your dog heard you say "go for a hike" and then you hugged them :D Just a thought - have you considered having your dog wear booties so they don't get cactus spines in their paws? I'm not even sure if that would prevent them from puncturing, but that sounds painful and like a big hassle for you.

Gypsy is pretty unbothered by the cactus! I’ll look into the booties...I bet they make something!

What brand is your wallet? Is it a Campomaggi?
@ambervolmering4914 жыл бұрын
So I've been doing a lot of research on the topic of compostable trash bags recently. I have found that if that bag is destined for landfill, it actually produces more greenhouse gases (12x more) than a plastic bag as it is not able to compost in landfill and instead anaerobically degrades creating methane. I know it's good to reduce the use of plastic overall, but in this case, might seem like a plastic bag would be better. Thoughts?
@RebeccaSisson4 жыл бұрын
Such a great question, and you are correct. But there are two things to consider: both the end of life impact of the bag but also the resource extraction and manufacturing impact. A plastic trash bag can take hundreds of years to decompose. And will likely break down into micro plastics that could find themselves in our oceans. Plus there is a huge demand on fossil / mineral based resources to produce it, versus a compostable bag that is made from renewable resources. And note that there is a huge difference between “biodegradable” and “compostable”...always opt for the latter. To me it is about the 360° view of the lifecycle impact of the product, not just the end of life impact in the landfill.

Rebecca, surely, there is such a thing as finding a happy medium? Of course, there are those who take everything, but the kitchen sink where ever they go. Being somewhere in the middle works best for me, and I sort/tidy my bag frequently, so as not to accumulate items. However, I find it more than annoying when those who call them minimalists, make it a point to have access to only the minimal. I have noticed that some of those who are minimalists have no problem expecting others to provide for their needs, instead of being responsible for themselves. A neighbour made fun of me for buying a small chain-saw to trim the trees in my yard, instead of paying someone to do the job. However, when there was a bad storm, and trees fell on her house, guess who was first in line at my front door wanting to use the electric chain store she had previously considered so unnecessary? This person refused to carry even a piece of paper and a pencil, and again she asked me if I had what she needed. Really annoying! Never a lender of a borrower be, it has been known to end friendships, or at the very least caus ill feelings.
