First.. I'm an 80's metal dude. have been since the 80's. I'm in my upper 40s. and I recently decided to see what this Billie chick was all about, see what the hype was. I'm like wow.. she's so different, unique but chill. I've been listening to her a lot. And her brother is a genius.. She is 17 years old here. its crazy. Hope she stays straight she'll have an amazing career. Love that she still lives in her childhood home w/ her family. That's awesome.

Thanks for your comment. I'm in my upper 60's - 69 in late Dec, 2022. And after not being to a concert in over 40 years, I went to see Billie in St. Paul, MN on March15, 2022 - awesome! In the 1970's I had seen John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, Three Dog Night and Waylon Jennings - all were terrific, but Billie was superb. Ariana, Adele, and many other women have stronger voices, but Billie is somehow unique - somehow her voice carries emotion [perhaps like a Frank Sinatra or Peggy Lee - 2 of her idols]; I didn't listen to "pop" - only classic rock and Bach, Mozart, Beethoven et. al. - but when I saw that this brother and sister won all these Grammys, I checked them out and now I am - I don't like the word - a superfan! Weird - I have 2 Billie shirts, 1 Finneas sweater, a Billie hat and I live 2000 miles from CA., 100 miles south of Winnipeg in northern MN, where probably no other senior citiizon in Kittson County has even heard of Billie Eilish. I would actually like to see hear live once again. P.S. "idontwannabeyouanymore" is one of my favorites and she wrote that at 15 [with Finneas] - and the Bond song "No Time To Die" at 17(18) - remarkable! and Finneas is special, too. P.S.S. Have you seen her sing Peggy Lee's "FEVER" at the Hollywood Bowl [July 25, 2022] and then she did a duet with Debbie Harry (of Blondie fame) when they sang Peggy Lee's "Is That All There Is" - 20 yr old Billie and 77 yr old Debbie - absolutely amazing!

Only a true vocal coach can appreciate the simplicities and the rawness/subconscious strength it takes to sing such a light but full, fluffy sound. Billies vocals are so unappreciated.
@mitcht27172 жыл бұрын
I 100% agree with you and I like it when vocal coaches like Rebecca recognize Billie's uniqueness. The Vocal Coach on the "Big Brain Singer" you tube channel reacts to/reviews Billie [16 at the time] singing Michael Jackson's "Bad" for Triple J [Feb 18, 2018] and he recognizes and admires Billie's gifts. His analysis is one of the best - along with Rebecca and a few others. Aside from the cover itself, having the creative imagination to make this song her own [I mean to fit her style] is mindboggling.

Billie is sooooooo exquisitely vulnerable and evocative and talented. I don't think I've ever felt so much admiration for a singer before. And that says a lot because I'm in my fifties and grew up amidst the live music scene in Houston in the 70's around a lot of professional musicians/singers and was surrounded by music and rehearsals, which nurtured a love that I carried across the decades of my life. Billie is one of a kind.

When she sang the beatles song, her voice reminded me of those old school movies in the 40/50’s where the housewives start singing, mixed with a disney princess. Billie has a very careful, sweet, intimate and emotional voice and I love it. It’s sad that people see her as “the girl who’s an idol for all the fake depressed teenage girls”. Because her voice and talent is soo raw and untouched by the (sometimes) awful music industry.
@mitcht27172 жыл бұрын
When she wrote and sang "Listen Before I Go" at the Steve Jobs Theater the emotion is authentic and palpable - in an interview Billie expresses how hurt she was that people said she was "fake depressed" - it's almost like those naysayers were asking her to hurt herself to prove she was truthful - disgusting.

Billie's "style" of music was something I never would've called my cup of tea, but I literally just happened across it on a youtube rabbit hole and was like "damn, this girl is doing something really unique and soulful." I learned more about her, her story, and now consider myself a fan of hers. It's incredible to thing of how young she is and how talented. Her age doesn't match her personality. She is wise beyond her years. I think her music resonates because most of it is full of pain, something almost everyone can relate to. She's sort of like when Adele first powered into the music world. She sang about sad things that we all have been through and expresses them in a way that just tells us that she knows what it's like. It brings people together. I know that personally Billie struggles with her fame, and hates it to some degree. I hope that she is able to achieve a balance of some kind and carve out a life for herself where she can be happy.

I agree - her COLORS live songs "idontwannabeyouanymore" and "Watch" are so good because you see the music moving through her - that happens with Billie all the time. There's all kinds of examples but her MAHOGANY session "COPYCAT" is awesome. I realize Billie is a visual artist and her synesthesia moves her to see music in images; I do believe that many of her Music Videos are works of art, but even so for me, they distract (almost detract) from the music itself. I consider myself a 68 yr old superfan, who lives in the middle of nowhere, so I listen to her 3 CD's in my car all the time along with Mozart or Bach or Phoebe Bridgers and others; I still look at the music videos now and then, but I definitely prefer songs without the videos with 1 exception - "Hostage" a phenomenal music - it completely (for me) fits the lyrics and music.

I have watched several of Rebecca's reaction videos, and her ability to understand and mimic what the singer is doing with their voice, tone, and enunciation is amazing. Sometimes, she will sing for a minute along with the vocalist she is reacting to, and she is always spot on in key. She has a really great ear for music.

I'd love to see your reaction to Christina Aguilera songs from the "Burlesque" soundtrack. My personal favorite song is "Bound to you" but any song she sings on that soundtrack is epic. Maybe even "Good girl" thanks.

I actually started watching your videos because one of your first reactions to Billie was in my suggestions and I think you're a doll! BUT I really think you should watch the acoustic concert Billie did with Finn for Apple Music. It's around 45 minutes long, but well worth it. At more than one point I even shed tears because of the just... pure emotion -- the raw emotion -- that she put into songs like 'listen before i go' and 'i love you' was just... it was breathtaking. Highly, HIGHLY, recommend watching it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mn_IpmOElNqebNE

Stay_Lucid This song made me realize my 5.5 year relationship was dead, and encouraged me to end it. It’s been 6 months, and we’re both better for it. I wish you the best.

Billie nearly cried twice during that from singing her songs. The 3rd Uke song had me frozen, as Rebecca mentions the vulnerability is incredible. Also so personal yet everyone feels it. She's got that thing that sets artists aside from others. Loved it.
