I've fished this lure for at least 12 years and it's always something i go to when I just can't catch a fish with anything else. You can fish it in several ways too, not just by popping it. My favorite way to fish this thing is extremely slowly. I throw it out and let it sit for a few seconds and then I start very lightly shaking my rod tip on a slack line to make the bait tremble and displace just a little bit of water, and then let it sit for a few seconds. I'll add in a little pop or two on the retrieve to get anything that is following it to make a reaction strike. It makes it resemble a cricket or bug on the water a little better and the bluegill and sunfish seem to love it fished like that. You'll occasionally catch a big bass on it too, especially if you fish it around structure in deeer water. It makes a really good topwater popper for bass on pressured lakes and rivers because of it's smaller size, you'll catch a lot of smaller fish mixed in but some fish is better than no fish.

I'm new to lures ; do you use weights (sling shots) with it ?
@sunnyt4212 Жыл бұрын
@@elisalewis7522no boss. Not typically. Only to get it down further and only enough to get it barely to bottom. 9/10 no added weight

I got one of these lures about year and a half ago used it once had no luck and haven’t used it since. I was using a little rebel crawl bait and caught a catfish and some huge ass fish that I think might of been a carp but I lost that fish. I’m going to have to take the grasshopper popper out soon, you got me all jazzed up about this lure again. Thanks for the video. Peace out ✌️

The REBEL crawfish is one of my go to lures. There aren't many bass where I live. I have caught sunfish perch and trout on it. The regular crickhopper works later in the season here.
@steventanner14284 жыл бұрын
PS you need to set the hook with the REBEL lures or you will miss a bunch of fish.

@@steventanner1428 thanks bud, yeah I usually just reel up on them with the lighter line. The craw and the crickhoppeer are 2 awesome lures. They sure can catch them.

Please tigthen up your drag! Cranking and allowing the drag to be lose will only put twist in the line of your spinning reel! It's better to tighten up your drag a keep the reel off anti reverse and just back reel if you the line is under to much tension! By back reeling and yoyo the fish it'll tireout quicker and save your line from twisting especially on line 6lbs and under!

Crazy the other day I used it I guess my drag was to tight and the fish snapped my line... He later shook the crick hopper loose while I was getting a drink my pops caught the line attached to the crick hopper while he was reeling it in another bluegill hopped on it so I got my bait back and he got another fish lmao

I really like to use 8 or 10 lb braid especially with a top water, but if it is a crankbait I will switch to mono to get it down a little more since braid likes to float more than mono does.
