I forgot to talk about Ketsu! Not a ton to say about her, just a solid A-tier. Very good for her 22 point cost, especially against squadless. Also sneaky good ability, particularly for a 4-hull scatter ace.

I feel like the Lancer belongs in D-tier just because it is *so easy* to shut it down. Even some light flak is enough to make you decide if you want to risk 15 points for a single black die into a ship. Even a TIE fighter or Vulture has a reasonable change to beat you in a fight at half the value. They're never really worth it, especially not in a world that has the YT-2400.

I could see them slipping down. Probably not to D tier, as they can still be solid, but you're right in saying that the presence of the 2400 really hurts them. That 4 hull is brutal.

Good video; good takes all around, though I think the X-Wing is still more useful than the YT. Special rules are nice, but for what you pay for, the X is just so good. Tack on Biggs and it's even better.

I rate YT-2400s higher simply because they function very well independently, whereas to get the maximum benefit from x-wings you need to run them with other stuff. Still very solid, hence my high rating, but I give YT's the edge.

Swap the B-wing and Lancer, then maybe bump the Lancer down another tier, and you're on point. Plenty of the generics are getting bumps here on the basis of working well with other stuff. Yes, the B-wing requires support, but the payoff for getting there is *huge*. It checks all the boxes you called out as issues for the Scurrg, and requires only AFFM or FC/FCT for parity, yet you ranked it below the Scurrg. As for the Lancer: you said the Lancers have had success? Where? I've literally never seen a Lancer on the table that wasn't either Ketsu or mine, and mine never lived past the first bombing run. Unboosted B-wings only get 1-2 bomber shots because they're slow... but that can be fixed, that's a *hard* hit, and they can fight, to boot. Lancers OTOH can't fight, and still only get one bombing run, because they're in danger of dying and have to flee. And that one shot hits like a wet noodle. There's never a reason to take a Lancer over a YT-2400. If you're that tight on points, you're better off downgrading to the far-superior Rogue, or Gold, or an A-wing, or rerolling the list. Lancers are bad bad bad.

I think the points about the B-wing are fair, and its also fair to say the Lancers are a tier high. To the point of Lancers not finding any success, I believe Sam took them to LVO finals top table right before covid. I've also had decent success with them myself, but I'm sure that makes me biased towards them. C tier is probably fair for them. You mention never seeing Lancers have success and never having success when using them yourself, that's my experience with the B wing. Find that they never live up to their points (the generics at least, the aces are solid). I'm happy to be proven wrong on them, I love seeing uncommon squads on the table, but I can't recall anyone running them recently and having tournament success. Thanks for your comment!

Imo, the B-wing deserves the B-tier status because of the rapid launch bay/flight commander combo. The ability to move at any speed then unload and shoot makes them very hard to avoid, 3 B-Wings and Norra supported by bomber command center and Toryn Farr is no joke. I won a regional using this exact combination, it was before PDICs and with the old Rieekan so I don't think the list would do that well today but it is still a deadly combo that is hard to interact with.

I think the necessity of investing all those points into making the B-wings relevant is part of what makes them hard to take in my opinion. They can definitely do work, no doubt there, but they are less flexible than many other options the rebels have access to, so I don't rate them as highly.

If you have to invest 2 upgrade slots into a ship to make a squad relevant that’s probably an indication it’s pretty subpar.

Good video. I don't feel there were any particularly hot takes. Most of the hot take discussion comes down to play style. I think Mack's comment is fair in the context of evaluating the squads in a vacuum, but that would change the whole list (part of Dutch's value comes from pairing with Wedge for example).

I agree. I think judging things in a vacuum is valuable, but its equally (if not more) valuable to look at the context of the faction as a whole when doing a tier list.

Great video! You mention a couple of list elements, like Gallant Haven, Torryn Farr and Flight Controllers in the video, but do you have a short list of elements that should be in most rebel non-rogue 134 squads lists?

I think Torryn Farr is a borderline must-take in 134. Adar Tallon is also worth a look. Flight controllers are a must if you're not running rogues. Then obviously look at boosted comms and expanded hangar bays where applicable. If you're running slow squads, maybe some fighter coordination teams or all fighters follow me can be helpful. If you're not going to run boosted comms, its worth looking at flight commander to let you activate after you move.

That's a very tough question. I would say the Rebels have the better rogues generally, but Empire has the better non-rogue aces, but only by a little bit. Part of what makes the Empire a bit stronger for squads is Sloane, so if the Rebels had a truly good squad commander then I may favor rebels. But its very close!

On Dagger Squadron, you said it's a better B Wing that has the B Wing's drawbacks. Shouldn't that put it in low C tier? I don't see it being worse than Green Squadron, which as you said is not a better A-Wing, and really only sees use in now-rare Rieekan squad lists. Also you are too kind to the generic HWK lol
