Also, neat factoid regarding the absence of pupils. REBOR's little story for this model has the hunt taking place at night, so we're seeing a simulated "night" effect with Hercules' eyes.

I just got mine today. Yes the feet do not match up perfectly to the base but who cares. This thing is stable on or off the base and is gorgeous. I love the big scales, reminds me of a cob of corn on it's underbelly. Rebor has killed it this time. And the Ceryneian that comes with it is so cool.

I only found out about Rebor an hour ago lol. I immediately ordered three figures, the Ceratosaurus, Yutyrannus and Utahraptor. They look amazing. My "dinodealer" also had that Tyrannosaurus rex, but I figured I could get that one some other time (three at once already is a bit expensive). I don't think he had any other models though. This Acrocanthosaurus is an absolute must as well! Is it relatively new still? Is it from a limited edition or something? Cause I really want to have this one too, this gets preference over the T. rex.

It doesn't seem that you went over how the Hercules stands on the base. For many people it's a chore to have it properly stand on the base with or without prey. The right foot doesn't seem to work well on the base. Thankfully it doesn't need the base, but its worth mentioning!

Yeah, as cool as this model is, Rebor have made the scales too large. Dinosaurian scales are very small, smooth, and would barely be visible on the body from a distance. See Bell et al. (2017), Bell et al. (2012), Chiappe et al. (1998), and some other papers. I think the mistake a lot of people make when they reconstruct dinosaurs like this is exactly this, they make the scales too big. Matter of fact, the skin and texture on this Acro looks a lot like a Bearded Dragon's.

REBOR have had a chance to do the same thing, and they're failing. Popular media is the primary way people learn about dinosaurs, and that comes with responsibility. JP owned up to it, REBOR are shrugging it off.

Remember that Jurassic directly went against paleo evidence several times in favour of the story, the size of the raptors, the shapes of the Dinosaurs skulls were augmented to make them look more ferocious, and the Dilophosaurus was given a frill and venomous glands.

+JurassicCollectables The Acro here is probably their best so far. But, those reticule (scales) are huge for the scale of the animal, the hands lack the distinctive "thumb claw", the feet are bulky, the leg musculature is more like a primate's than a dinosaur's, and there should probably be simple "lips" of tissue covering the teeth when the mouth is closed. Also, the dark circles around the eyes and the blank eyeball make it look "scarier" which, I admit, is just irksome on a personal level XD It's the "Y-REX" and "WIND HUNTER" that are really problematic for me as a dinosaur fan. They're obscene. At least Acrocanthosaurus is a little more well suited to their, ahem, "style". JP's dinosaurs have got some issues to be sure. Though the Dilo venom is plausible; it's the skull shape that bugs me. Dilophosaurus has such a cool skull, why make it so generic-looking? But the movie set itself apart in context. Everything about those dinosaurs was going to alienate fans of the old cold-blooded ones, but JP took the risk. It was a gutsy move.
