Urano Motosu loves books and has an endless desire to read literature, no matter the subject. She almost fulfills her dream job of becoming a librarian before her life is ended in an accident. As she draws her last breath, she wishes to be able to read more books in her next life.
As if fate was listening to her prayer, she wakes up reincarnated as Myne-a frail five-year-old girl living in a medieval era. What immediately comes to her mind is her passion. She tries to find something to read, only to become frustrated by the lack of books at her disposal.

Honestly, this anime pissed me off all the way through. The nobility were beyond intolerable, believing the plebs were either toys for their amusement or property they could take whenever they wanted.

The most disturbing part is that it's a pretty accurate model of how the divide between the "nobility" and the "peasants" has worked in nearly every past kingdom you can mention. It's still how things work, only now they're called the "rich" and the "poor" in order to hide the obvious implications that rich people just believe they're "better than" anyone who is poor and are entitled to selfishly hoard all of their wealth regardless of the needs of others. The orchestra may have changed, but the tune is the same.

this series is based on a light novel that is in another level of hardcore good writing. It is the best worldbuilding in any isekai series ever. it is so good, that it works with in world expresions that, if you learn what they mean and the context, you lean stuff that the protagonist doesn't way ahead of that she even misses completely. It takes here years to pick up on the fact that the building she is left with in the church was not abandoned and shamed because people hate orphans but because it was a h*r*house. Even she misses a lot of people killed off screen because of her actions. if you are a ruthless bearded big man and you read this novel, you cry, a lot.

They do but remember, not only can no physician help with this because it's the devouring, the healer types are likely very expensive while Myne's family is super-poor. Also, the common folk healers would have no idea about the devouring as the nobles of that world deliberately gatekeep that information, which is mentioned over and over in the anime.

I really loved season one and hated the second one soley because of the head priest. He practically mind raped a child, failed to protect Mia on multiple occasions and knew Mai's family would object to the adoption so didn't invite them to discuss it, hoping to bully a young girl into being adopted by a man she hardly knows. Nevermind all the times he keeps threatening to " put her down" Mai was never a person to him, merely a dog he wanted to do tricks.

Some lore : There are reason why mind reading tool isn't used frequently because 1. One of the step is literally sexual acts. Fortunately myne kinda skip it because she have devouring 2. The longer they are inside someone mind their emotion and memories become more synchronized Imagine mind search some criminals but before doing it you need to have sexual acts with them plus sometimes they do it in fresh dead body.

Well if you read the light novels or manga, there's a reason why Ferdinand has to do all of this. He's actually protecting Myne. Her powers are growing! Ferdinand and Sylvester ( the Lord who adopted her) are the only ones strong enough to help her control her powers at this point. And the reason why Sylvester considered killing her commoner family is because they are a security risk to the country. If foreign countries found out about Myne they could kidnap her and use her as a baby making machine . Any kid she has will inherit her powers and be used as magical weapons against Aronfest. Nobody gives a crap about commoner kids getting kidnapped but it's a different story when it comes to royalty and nobles. If anyone tries to kidnap Myne, Sylvester has the magical, legal and political power to protect her. Sylvester is not a king but he is a very high ranking Noble. He's the Arch Duke of Aronfest. And guess what? Ferdinand is his half brother!
