Sounds like the dude just got lazy. Went to the NBA. Thought he was made. Went to the club and became a gangster over a couple months. I’m assuming he wasn’t practicing everyday like well known players.

4:00 - I don't believe for one minute that his family rejected him. I think he was now seen as an average joe and probably told to get a job. His neighbors probably no longer treated him like a celebrity either. Whatever the case, he made poor decisions and is now paying for them.
@errepe3990

I believe so too. Maybe the fact that they wanted to hold him accountable was seen by him as rejection. If, for example, I tell my homeless cousin that he can live with me as long as he promises to find a job and stop doing drugs, and he does nothing but drugs and never searches for a job.... once i tell him to leave.... Did i reject him, or did he reject an opportunity for a better life?

If his family did reject him, it was probably cause they took a loan out and was expecting Crittenton to pay them back or something like that. Dude was ready to make millions of dollars if he didn't get caught up with darkness. #1 thing, an athlete from a poverty stricken area does is give back to the family. He completely let his family down. It was his dream, it was probably his whole families dream.. I doubt they rejected him tho, but they probably didn't help him or talk to him for a few weeks or something What's awesome to know from this unfortunate tale is how Gilbert Arenas, regularly visits him in Prison and has supported his family's financial payments. 👍👍

I also find it hard to believe that everyone in his family rejected him, I can believe that he was told that he needed to change his lifestyle because of his fall from grace and he made very poor decisions, its like he was determined to be a failure, too sad !

But I think you are missing the point here Froggy. There is a difference between an individual's life being turned upside down due to circumstances beyond their control and an individual's life being turned upside down due to bad decisions they make. I get what you are saying in a general sense but in this particular case Javaris Crittenton ruined his own life the moment he chose to throw away a promising career and future to be in a gang.

Well there was a third star on the team and also had NBA potential, but that was all lost when he made the mistake to bring a loaded gun to practice, his name was Benny Anders, who grew up playing basketball as a kid with Karl Malone in Louisiana. For a person who does well for himself financially I know what it's like to not have real support because everyone think you're the backbone....so I can only imagine being young, famous, rich, and confused .... sad.... he'll be back home safe hopefully

It's not easy losing family support... if it gets to that then perhaps one really messed themselves up or someone got it twisted what the meaning of support really is. From 19-23 things really nosedived for him. Bad company corrupts good morals. He was safer around his family, joined the NBA and got the fame n money n lifestyle. He wasnt principled n desired a lifestyle that was the death of everything good he had going. Vengeance belongs to God. Let the systems handle it. The revenge mission was the last straw. A symptom of an underlying problem inside of him. I pray he changes on the inside. It's a long time to reflect and hopefully learn.

@Rapid Reliable I have zero remorse for Javaris. Dude had it all, and threw it all away over people who couldn't give two fucks about him. This is what can happen with a fatherless upbringing.

Those gangsters were bad influence but it's still his fault he decided to hang out with them. And next his family also made big mistake he is their son and they should support him no matter what. He made mistake they are the one who should have helped him to make it right. Their response "You are failure" made him mad and angry and after he got robbed he hasn't got anyone to talk to, to have advice and to help him control his anger. So his anger and thought of getting revenge led him to become a murderer. I hope he learned his lesson about getting revenge to someone. And I hope his family feel ashamed of their selves cuz they refused to help their son fix his mistake he made by deciding to hang out with those gangsters.

Nah, I don't blame the family. They had sacrificed a lot too for him to get there, only for him to throw it all away. Do u think the family havent called him to order when they first noticed he was going astray? He felt he knew what he was doing and no one can talk to him bcos he had money, so went things went south, the family too have the right to keep him out
