The West standings. If I had to guess going into the season, my top 8 would have included: Denver, LAC, Sacramento, Dallas, Memphis, Phoenix, Minnesota, and either OKC, LAL or Golden State. I would've never guessed that OKC and Minnesota would make that jump to the top of the conference. I didn't expect NOP to be good this year. I did expect Houston to make a jump because their young guys have one year more experience, they have an actual point guard, and DIllon Brooks is a colossal pain in the ass, but he is a good defender. However, as you said, the West is brutal this year. I also didn't expect Memphis to lose both Ja and Steven Adams for the year; I figured that they'd get by with a .400 record through the first 25 and then turn it up in the remaining 57 games. I expected San Antonio to be better (maybe 30 and 52), but I never expected so many games with Jeremy Sochan as a point guard. I like him; I think he's smart and a hard worker (and a good person), but he's not a point guard.

@@Basketballeditz52 Same here. I know this is going to sound like a brag or being an annoying know-it-all, but here it goes: Back in the 90s, we lost Run TMC. Watching Bimbo Coles and Kevin Willis suit up for the Warriors and, later, past their primes Muggsy Bogues and Mookie Blaylock was difficult, but the fans stuck around. Curry will likely retire or leave within 5 years. He'll be 41 in 2029 and will experience some drop-off between now and then. It will feel like the end of the world, but it isn't. Unless the only reason why people are Warrior fans are because (a) Steph Curry is there or (b) they're winning, the fans will stick around. Fortunately, we don't have Chris Cohan to basically run the team off of profit margins (not to mention that he basically sued the prior owners to get control of the team at all). The ownership group desperately wants to win and has been successful so far; unless they abandon ship entirely, they'll find a way. It may be the end of the era, but Kuminga, Moody, Podz, and TJD will be fun to watch when it's their turn.

Biggest surprises for me this season was definitely the rise in the timberwolves, pelicans, magic into being some of the best teams in the league. Another surprise as well would be how quickly the grizzlies fell off even though I know that they’ve been injured really badly all throughout the season but it’s crazy how they went from a top 3 team to the bottom 3 in the west

I think also we should include "Trae Young is the worst defender in the league" At his size he's still gonna be below average, but he's put in more defensive effort and has started getting steals and drawing charges. Earlier in the season, he wasn't among the 10 players with the worst defensive ratings while players like Haliburton were on there that don't get the same criticism about defense as Trae
