Rebuiding a Classic Sailing Ship - 1 Year in 3,5 Minutes!

Just a small overview of the progress we made in 2023, our first year of rebuilding Schooner Tijgerhaai, without comments, just music.

Schoener Tijgerhaai (Tigershark) started life in 1944 as a canadian built tugboat and she has been in my family for almost 50 years. Together with my dad, I am rebuilding this beautiful sailing ship, to make her ready for new adventures!

You've been gone for so long - I was worried!!! You, to my taste, are the best WHAT I HAVE SEEN AND SEE on the topic - YACHT RESTORATION. ... And I was especially impressed by the HIGHEST ART - MASTERY of the Father!!!! Although he hardly spoke during the video, - BUT I SAW HIS GOLDEN HANDS AND SKILLS - bravo!!!! WE ARE BACK NOW. I tried to combine making video's with some work as engineer/deckhand on a bigger sailing ship, but that turned out to be difficult. Thank you so much for your kind words. We will not disappear! Beginning of february I'll do one more 6 week sailing trip to get my papers for Chief officer all sailing ships, but after that we'll just continue as before. Happy new year!

The speed with which you guys work is absolutely incredible. How many hours do you two actually put into in every week?

Thanks! It's different every week, but in a good week I think around 50 :)

@@tigersharkboatworks Yes that is what I imagined. So I assume correctly that you are not bound by a fulltime job next to this project? Perhaps I missed such a video, but as a viewer I would appreciate a video which explains the money and time situation and management for this project.

I didn't make a video about that yet indeed. Dad is already on his pension, but we're both working up to 10 hours a week on side jobs, and I was able to save up a bit during my previous job as engineer on dredging ships. And now I take the occasional trip as engineer/deckhand on a bigger sailing ship :)

Nog een heel jaar voor de volgende kerststol en oliebol. Nog een hoopte doen. Mooi als ze zeilt in 2024. Wat kost het om mee te gaan als bemanning?..

In 2024 nog zeilen zal spannend worden, we doen ons best! We hebben ons nog niet verdiept in de kosten van meevaren, maar op het zeilschip waar ik net vanaf kom was het €250 per persoon per dag.
