All of my rc car motors have a separate fan motor to cool it i guess they are powerful too 😊
@waynec3695 ай бұрын
Got nothing to do with it. Motors that run at lower than base speed, i.e. controlled with a VFD, the built-in fan can't provide adequate cooling. Therefore, an auxiliary blower is used. You can see this done on fractional HP motors all the way up to 1000 HP motors.
@rfreaky47174 ай бұрын
It's pretty normal for these types of motors as they can generate heat even when not turning so it cannot cool itself and need a separate motor for that.
@Revolver.Ocelot4 ай бұрын
It's indeed speed, and also if it's a synchroon motor. They usely run slow speeds and need separate cooling.
@pat89884 ай бұрын
From the looks of the motor interior, I’d say that the blower needs a filter.

I am certified from Becker vacuum pump. I send my motors out when I see internal issues. What a art. I loved this video. Thank you. I simply change bearings and test amp loads before and after I rebuild, if there's ever a issue I'm forced to send them out. This is above my capabilities currently and I appreciate the video

This is really educational. I’m more on hightech side of the electrical spectrum. Never touch industrial gear, yet it’s the basis of everything. So it’s really nice to see it like this.

Just stumbled on your page, very impressive looking work! Just wondering what the value proposition could possibly be on a rebuild like this versus ordering a new one? Seems like a ton of work 😬😬
@tomball32195 ай бұрын
Some motors have lead times of weeks or months which can lead to serious costs due to down time. Rewinds can be done in a matter of days avoiding those client additional business costs.
@connerlabs5 ай бұрын
Well this is how they are made, the exact same thing happens in the motor factory when you order a new one! So the only scope for cost saving is if it happens in India instead of your local rewind shop. I doubt that is enough to offset the cost of the rotor, armature iron, and shipping.
@christopherleubner66335 ай бұрын
For a big one like this about a third to half the cost, but the real value is that you got a lot less downtime, a couple weeks vs months.

Really puts into perspective how cheap combustion engines are.
@dnomyarnostaw4 ай бұрын
@nils1953 Not a fair comparison. To compete with the amount of work this motor has done, 2 years 18 hours per day continuous, you would need 4 or 5 15k Diesel engines, with all the maintenance they need, filters, oil, belts etc. If Ice engines were cheaper, they would be used instead. And don't forget, it took a flood to shut this one down.
@rkan24 ай бұрын
@@dnomyarnostaw Absolutely. For stationary applications it only makes sense to have combustion engines if there is no eletrical grid OR you don't have a reciprocating combustion engine OR it is a backup.
