When I was 19 years old back in early '83 I owned a 70 Camaro that looked just like this one. What really brought back memories was that bridged shifter. Anyway, I could have sworn the title said 70 1/2. I remember calling it that when I talked about it. In any case, I sure wish I still owned that car. This was my pre Army days and I still lived in CA. The car was pretty much a POS when I got it, and one of the biggest mods I did was to put a '78 Trans Am (pretty sure that was the year) roof on it with factory T-Tops. It looked like gold having those factory T-Tops on my Camaro. Anyway, I joined the Army later that year and never did finish the car.

This episode brings back great memories. There was a first gen Trans-Am in my hometown, I passed on a '70-1/2 Z/28 in 1977 for $1350, and had an Air Force buddy with a second gen 396 Camaro (325hp, white interior and vinyl top). It was down on power until we found a 2-bbl base gasket under the Q-Jet. Once fixed that car would spin the tires for days.

My mom had a 1973 that she inherited from my grandfather. It was in showroom condition in 1990 when she got it and we took it to the beach all the time and no time it rusted out so bad. But we loved it when we had it

Love your builds.....rarely do you go nuts. Each week I wait for your new videos. You do 'em just like I would. The Camaro you feature and the Trans-Am (that year) were my favorites. I had a buddy with the samne Pancho and a Ram-Air 4400.....sweet. LS7 is a nice touch.

I love the second gens more than any other camaro. My best friend has a split bumper. But it has weaknesses. Like being a unibody. If you make any good power and have good grip you might need frame ties. I'd also put a cage in something this old. A new Ford focus would go through this camaro like tinfoil. Or any car of this Era.

I heard from a GM factory mechanic that there was a discrepancy in a piston order. GM received pistons bigger than than the 396's bore of 4.094 inches. Since the blocks were already cast and GM had a pile of 4.125 pistons, the factory bored 396 blocks to fit the bigger pistons, so was born the 402

@mikeromeo89054 жыл бұрын
Da40kOrks 100 % agree. When I bought mine in the 90's it had rotten r/s nose aheetmetal, and that ugly warped urethane grille surround., I snatched that junk off there so fast. Swapped it out for the standard front end. I run the split bumpers, standard nose. I hate the round parkinglight next to the round headlights. All that round is too monotonous for me, the standard parking light breaks that roundness up and besides that clean piece of sheetmetal, which sweeps down between the headlight and standard grille, is one of my favorite part of this bodystyle...The standard front end is 100x cleaner looking.

@Coupydog5 жыл бұрын
Hey guys, just 2B clear at 2:07, 1970 was simple. There was no "SS Striping Pkg" from the Factory that mimicked a Z28, same for wheels. I don't get why you're recreating an SS, but imitating the exclusive look of a Z28??? A true SS looked like stripped Camaro with wide oval tires & Dog Dish hubcaps, a blacked -out rear panel, grill & "SS" front fender badging. An RS Pkg was optional, but NO Z28 "tricks". You're doing it wrong.

I really hate how shows like this are recorded. Two people taking turns finishing what the other began saying and trying awkwardly to make it seem natural like when one stands in the foreground then turns away to go off camera while the other walks up from the background to....again....finish what the other guy was saying. It's all odd, unnatural and difficult to watch. It reminds me of a variety show.
