Sounds like it definitely needs a new water pump, and I’d be tempted to do a compression test on the motor also. The Holley needs a good tune, that’s for sure. It’ll come up ok, it just needs some love, but make sure you make a priority list so you don’t spend a lot of time and money on one little task that isn’t important, and then find out that you have a blown motor. If you’re planning on using that trans, it’s a good idea to replace all the seals and gaskets on it and give the shafts a shake and make sure all the bearings are good, run through the gears and twist the shaft to make sure there’s no grinding or noise before you fit it into the car.
