If you use a lighter colored sealer and put down a white base it will allow you to do less coats of base coat and with having the white base I think it would match the rest of the car just fine. That’ll keep y’all from having to repaint the whole car. You used a dark sealer that’s why that panel is darker. Plus 9 coats of paint didn’t help lol. We tell painters all the time to spray out the color on spray out card to see what’s your coverage and check the color at the same time. Great videos guys, keep up the work, just a quick suggestion, for lighter colors you might to try using a lighter sealer, you’ll get better coverage using lighter colors to cover lighter sealer, instead of using lighter paint to cover dark colored sealer, probably the reason also why the quarter panel is darker then the rest of the car, that darker sealer is still showing through, if I still remember base paint should be about 4 mils thick per paint job, about 3 sheets of paper thick, just my two cents, can’t wait to see the Viper done and letting some “freedom” out

@THIGGEH6 жыл бұрын
The paint issue is called "opacity", your blacks, blues, reds, are usually very "opaque" paints meaning they cover with little transparency, so they require fewer coats. Your yellows and oranges are almost always not going to be very opaque so when you lay down a coat you can easily see what's underneath. Someone else said it but painting yellow or orange on top of a white base is the best way to go. This information may or may not come from graffiti writing

@elcaminosunlimited6 жыл бұрын
No paint, regardless of brand or price, is going to match the oem color 100%. Blending it is a must.There are too many variables for it to spray out of the gun and match existing paint. Even cars painted at the factory have slight color variation from car to car. If you are seeking a higher quality paint, look into sherwin Williams automotive finish. Very good quality and usually less than PPG/Dupont.
@rOEN9116 жыл бұрын
guys the reason the color is so off is because you paint a bright paint on a dark surface ,you wasting material and thats why it took 9 layers and still is not right ....this is basic ,you need before the main color to paint it bright color base a similar shade of cheaper orange color as you said in the video is a good solution ,i normally when i paint bright colors i use white as a base color !

Don't paint the whole car. That's digging a hole to China when you don't know how to do this to begin with. As the OP here said ... go to a pro ... get them to do a spectrometer reading on the paint. They will need the whole car to match that panel correctly. You need someone that knows what they are doing and are willing to spend the time. On a car like that, with all the angles, it does not have to match perfectly, as the light reflects in various angles. Again ... get a pro to do it - don't go painting the whole car or blending and getting more otherwise perfect panels involved.

Hi boys. Use your aluminum welder to repair the door. Weld, for example, aluminum washers and then pull them out with a slide hammer.

For translucent base coats like that orange, you need to use a white or grey sealer. That is why that quarter panel is slightly darker. If you need to use more than 4-5 base coats to cover, you can expect the sealer to effect the color no matter how many coats you put on. If you decide to shoot the entire car, make sure you reshoot that quarter panel with the same sealer. Looks good guys, it's a learning process.

you can get tinted primer that stops you having to use the expensive base coat for coverage as you will use less to get the coverage & colour you want

Good job guys as always.. tip on your color matching problems... primers and sealers come in different colors... you put the darkest color sealer on... if you went with the light grey/almost white you would have covered in 2 to 3 coats max and it would have matched better.... mil thickness and adhesion starts becoming a problem with that many coats of base. And time to upgrade your clear to a better product... the nason is only good for jamming... TD-

Need to use a sealer with a closer shade to the paint. White with light colors, black/dark grey with dark colors. Saves tons of paint and better paint match.
