I have no interest in repairing crashed cars but I do find your videos so interesting and entertaining. As an expat in the US, I can say that if I lived in the UK, I would definitely be buying my next car from you guys. You seem fair and honest which is certainly not common in the car industry.

Hello Rob and Chris , just wanted to say how much I enjoy watching your channel. You both have a great rapport, and different qualities that makes you work so well as a team . Rob’s boundless enthusiasm and excitement, especially when you are first trying to start a non runner haha, To Chris’s unbelievable skill on all aspects of repairing these broken vehicles. Been watching you guys for a few years now , discovered you when I stumbled on the Ferrari build . Love the variety of your Channel , from the fiat 500’s to the Maseratis, to the caravans, motor homes , cabin cruisers , garden finds etc etc all brilliant content . Never get. Bored of your channel, where some of the bigger channels go a bit ott and are less watchable these days. Anyway I am waffling now ! Keep up the good work guys and merry Christmas . Mark

I’m just assisting with the same ‘non’ start fault on a Golf GTD. I can’t imagine the fault will be identical, but from my own research it might suggest that the body control module is not providing an ‘authorisation’ to start. The automatic version of modern cars incorporate an ‘interlock’ relay which is served by the position sensor on the gear shift lever. When it’s in ‘Park’ with your foot on the brake it energises the relay to provide power to the starter motor relay. A chain of events !, but it’s possible on the Maserati that the airbag system has spooked the body control module to prevent the authorisation start sequence. Have a look Rob to see if all the electric windows function correctly etc. Josh can look at the live data to check that the gear selector position can be seen by the body module. Because you can quickly overcome the ‘check’ sequence and bypass the interlock relay, I think it will be fairly straightforward to diagnose. Good luck !.

Hi Rob and Chris, parts not cheap on this one, Josh knows his stuff, hopefully he'll sort the electrical faults out. £1000 for a light just makes ya wince no matter how long you've been in the game. Great video, Alex.

The TCU includes a basic stolen vehicle tracking solution. As part of the start sequence, it handshakes, using a secure code, with the body system. If the TCU is not working, then there will be a crank inhibit as you are seeing. So check the TCU, connections, supply, and internal backup battery

I had an open circuit code on merc airmatic compressor circuit earlier this week. After a loong time studying the wiring diagram, I eventually took the engine compartment fuse box apart & discovered the earth pins that the control side of the relay push into were slightly splayed apart. A wee tighten with some pliers resolved but I probably invested several days of diagnosis time.

Josh knows his stuff, I am sure that when he obtains a wiring diagram then the reason why the relay will not energise will become clear. I suspect that another module is the culprit. Modern cars are so complex, basically mobile computers.
@stephenricketts7764Күн бұрын
'It's Alive!' Well Josh to the rescue once again, he knows his stuff without a doubt. I was only saying to someone the other day that modern relays are generally reliable. We know though that this is an almost new car so a wiring diagram is the best hope of diagnosing the fault. It might even be something quite simple that the crash has knocked out of wack and it thinks it is still crashed but I know Josh will sort it for you Gents. Good progress on the bodywork as well although we knew there was not much of that to do. Thanks Rob and Chris for another great and interesting video. 👍👍
