I'm also from Alberta and I'm looking for a Duramax. I don't know much about them yet, but you have any suggestions for which one would be better

I’m personally a fan of the pre-emission Duramax’s as they’re much simpler to work on and modify. The LLY/LBZ are both great platforms to build off of in my opinion, however if you’re looking to get into a newer truck then I’d recommend doing some research into which engine and platform is going to suit you and your needs best.

I have the complete front end Kryptonite on my LBZ. Night and day difference compared to stock. I run the same wheel setup you had on your lbz that you just sold. Steering is nice and tight little to no play in the steering. I think it’s a must for these IFS trucks!

I've never personally ran the complete Kryptonite front end, but I have had their UCA's and can honestly say their worth every penny.

Thanks for the input! I’m for sure going to be ordering the UCA’s and tie rods, just wasn’t sure if it was worth spending the extra cash for the complete front end kit.

You tore apart that front diff so quick. I’m interested in your reassembly...I’ve got to do it to mine. Looking forward to your developments. What gearbox you looking at doing, if you do it? I think I’ve narrowed it down to PSC.

Yeah the disassembly goes pretty quick, putting it all back together will be the more time consuming portion. I’m not sure if I’m going to replace the box yet or not, but if I did I’d go for a PSC or Red-Head for sure.

@@warnerbu7lt Based on the feedback I keep seeing redhead is about 50/50 positive and negative on longevity. More people seem to venture to bluetop or PSC. At least that's the way it appears. Looking forward to more videos!

Its worth it, especially with the lifetime warranty, but in general its way beefier then stock. I have UCAs, wheel bearings, bump stops, cam bolts, the whole death grip steering package, tie rods, redhead gearbox, psc power steering pump, 2011 hydroboost, on a zone 6 inch lift kit (same as BDS) lowered down to like a 4.5 inch, 22x12.50 -44 on 33s. If your gonna do it, do it all, dont wait cause your gonna wanna do it down the line.

Appreciate the feedback man! That’s honestly what I’ve been leaning towards. Also, the fact that I’m already going this far with a full frame off, I may as well do it all right the first time.
