I can’t believe y’all didn’t get any dirt in that sucker. That was impressive enough for me by itself. Now I know what to do when this old 96 Timberwolf I inherited finally gives up the ghost. I’m sure it could use it now but it still runs so ima leave it running in hopes and dreams for right now. Great video.

your gas tank wasn't rusty I take it? due to cancer, selling a big bear that I bought to restore, and thanks for the video because I had a guy today tell me that people can't do a top rebuild, he said nope, gotta go to the dealer, I was like what? He spent half an hour telling me all what COULD be wrong with it. friggin guy. what a scammer. Tells me if the gas tank is rusty, the thing is garbage. uh, heard of rust removal any? sometimes I hate people. He also said if it ever ran with bad fuel or moisture, it's toast. Well, I can't promise it hadn't been, but I know damn well anything can be fixed, and if you pay someone else, hells yeah it costs but do it yourself and be proud. Love this video brah

Well most Yamaha AtV gas tanks are plastic so they don't rust.. but the gas will go stale and turn into a rusty grease looking liquid.. most the time water in the fuel won't hurt the engine because it evaporates when it goes into the hot engine most time what kills the engine in water is when you completely submerged the ATV and it shrinks the Piston due to it getting a full cylinder of it makes the rings get stuck but you can always fix it it just matters how much you want to spend $$

Parts are cheap on eBay there just made in China tho but they usually work good the only problems I ever run into Chinese eBay parts is usually electrical components don't work right

Sounds like he was just trying to get a good deal or (more likely) was just a dumbass. Should’ve asked him to explain how a plastic tank rusts lmao

Hey man, Great video! I just picked up an old kodiak I'm trying to get going again and your videos are a great help.

Enjoying your video, not sure if you just weren't showing it but can I make a suggestion that you use some type of lubricant when you're putting the stuff back together. It's not only good for the first minute when you start it up but it helps things go back together a little easier. Also you might suggest to people that a ring compression tool is a thing they may not know about. it's not expensive and helps to get the ring started in a cylinder
@DustinLansdell8 ай бұрын
I put a little oil in cylinder idk if I showed that but the ring squeezer is a little hard to use on a ATV engines most of the time i put the piston on the rod first
@jamessepulveda52024 ай бұрын
i would hone the cylinder first even when new

Was wondering are you doing this job for yourself or is this a job for someone else that you're getting paid to rebuild the top end. If so how much does this job normally run to have you or shop do it.

@DustinLansdell Жыл бұрын
It should run good 115psi iv had some run good with just 60psi
