Rebuilding Brake Calipers!! | BMW 2002 BUILD

What a nice Project you have there! Looks like you are headed in the right direction by Working on the Brakes, Safety First! Excellent workmanship! I hate to burst your bubble but those calipers you have are part of the "Big Brake Upgrade" so good choice. Being that, these are only part of the upgrade. These are Girling calipers off a 80's Volvo, you will need the disks off a e21, much beefier than stock and the hub as well, also need 4 spacers, 2 for each caliper to center it, also may need to scrap the dust shield to clear or cut it. As with these upgrades there will always be compromises, being, you wont be able to run those stock 13" wheels with out further mods done to caliper. But its not hard, just oval out the mounting holes so the calipers sit further down to clear. Hope you are able to continue with the project, dont worry about satisfying the masses as far as originality goes, build it the way YOU want with what you can afford. Let the mods begin! Happy Motoring, and of course Respect your Elders, and by all means check the FAQ for parts and tips. One last thing, do you self a favor and do the paint last, once you have gotten ir rolling, i have seen many projects stalled for that, especially with these, the trim has many parts and it adds up fast.

Thank you so much for the kind words and detailed advice! I actually had already installed these calipers with new rotors and havent had any issues. Ill look back at the brakes and see if there are any clearance issues etc. but ive driven the car a handful of times already and everything seems to be working as they should. And I've been considering many different routes with the build but i think I've settled on something unique to my taste so I appreciate the words of encouragement since alot of purists are out there bashing certain mods especially on this chassis; which I can understand. Will definity be tackling paint last but I'm not looking forward to the rust repair 😅

Still have it! Been off to the side since I've been working on the 2002 but i have parts already for a full suspension overhaul and a dual rear caliper hydro ebrake setup for the m50 e30 and possibly painting it soon as well 👍👍
