I really love the idea of the wandering traders coming from this ancient civilization I definitely think that they traveled a lot since they had terracotta also I think they were originally underground as a way to defend themselves

The tower is the only bit that pokes above ground. Maybe it was the way to the surface? Then they used one entrance to the tower ground floor as a mine, and the other as the town.

i personally think itd be the only time in which ud see villagers and the ancient people live together as one. unless the villagers, loot table can trade gold nuggets, the only 2 things i can assume are left that deal with gold nuggets is the player so the ancient people or the piglins, yet i wouldnt really see how the piglins would tie-in to this here unless it plays of from minecraft legends as the buildings from back then are made of all these sorts of materials and was likely a small village or town which had been raided. i still would lean more toward the ancient builders more as inhabitants and the village being abandoned due to the piglins because villagers dont at least right now, sell armour trimmed armour nor sell the things in order to make them.

The trail ruins are said to be the oldest structure in the game, This is due to the pottery and smithing templates which represent the first things the Builders did when they started to leave the tribal era such as taming wolfs, Learning how to make better tools and making houses Maybe since their age, it would probably be on the surface since they wouldn’t learn how to make stuff underground that early

The trail ruins remind me of the Silk Road from ancient history. In my mind, the Silk Road was just that, one long road that passed through towns and cities…where someone like a wandering trader would travel along. Your recreation really did it justice, and I loved to see your thought processes, even if a little different from mine. I think that shows how there could have been so many little communities along one longer road for trading and communicating, so each town will be unique! Great watch.

A brick hole in the ground can only be one thing in my opinion; Water storage. Imagining the cross as a golem statue is a good idea, but the two next to him are two blocks tall, so definetly adults. If I had to guess I would say soldiers. Maybe a war memorial of some sort. Also, you always say "village", but a sable, a tower, an armoury and a few houses aren't a village. It's more likely that is was sone sort of roadsite inn, where the wandering traders slept.

i would still class it as a village in progress if anything. i believe it heavily ties in from minecraft legends where these assortments of blocks at least most or all of them, are used for villages which villagers live in and have built them selves back then. the reason why its abandoned and in ruins is because the village wasnt able to be defended against the piglins. seeming as the hero in minecraft legends can apparently speak the villagers language and talk to them easily and the fact we now know the origins of the illagers, i think both people like steve and villagers once coincided with one another at some stage traded and even the people like steve ended up making trimmed armour to defend the village while it grew and traded with likely other villages. there likely wasnt many defending the town for the villagers nor was there much in the way of golems of defense back then in which the villagers knew how to make or had the recources to make which is why some of the villager towns fell while others stood standing likely the whole way through the war.

I imagine that they would have used many different colours, because we can find so many of them in the ruins. Maybe they were highly spiritual with different dyes and ceremonies (maybe a bit like Indias kinda festives). I love the work you've done and if one wanted to expand it, I think a "colourstore" would be a good fit as well.

or just part of their evolution and growth finding out new things. put it this way, if villagers once lived there which seems likely, weve already seen villagers grow over the years and become semi advanced as well. they went from simple huts to full fledge houses, trading basic items to advanced items, we see how they work and function and live now moreless, they never even really had proper pathways, it was made out of wood and now they have clean dirt pathways and slightly more advanced docks for the villages that live next to rivers and oceans.

Just like when you rebuilt the trial ruins to its formal glory I rebuilt the whole ancient city and made it livable based on the loot and a bit of logic (and when I mean by livable I mean literally livable for villagers and the players themselves) admittedly it was a nightmare to do but definitely worth it and as for someone who does archaeological work with structures and civilizations in Minecraft it was fascinating bc of the designs of each building and how they lived and the history behind it all

the 1 thing i keep seeing on these ruin trail resotration type videos in minecraft is how poorly people wrongly assume how they were once built and trying to add their own flare's into it rather than building it back up and just preserving it. to me and my opinion of it, when people say they are going to restore the buildings, they dont pay near enough attention to how it was actually designed and what each room actually is which annoys me. people tend to say and speak about the loot table of what u can find while digging but then instantly forget about it when building up the buildings and the tower and each room to what they actually are. idk if it is this video or the last one i just watched on someone else's but, i noticed there was a shop room of some sort within one of the buildings and even though they vaguely assumed it could be one, the person decided to make more of a mess with the room and not correctly understand what it clearly is.

The Ancient cities are old, ok, the name says that, they are effing old. But I'm inclined to believe the Trail ruins still predates the Ancient cities by at least a few centuries. The absence of iron pickaxes and any iron related item like lanterns for example are at least an argument for that. That also means no diamonds, so those 4 trimmed diamond armors over there were not possible in their time. Their armor trims were being used on leather probably. Anyway, peoples that descended from the trail ruins people managed to keep the armor trim tradition alive. So they went to several other parts of the world and started customizing their armor trims to their surroundings. Another possibility maybe even in conjunction with the previous one, is that at some point, when the war broke out the armor trims were necessary as a type of uniform so you could identify each people and know who were your enemies and who were allies. But overall, your rebuilding of the trails was great.

There is a water source on that village a.k.a economic place of traders which is the well or a flowing source of water. Caravans, Inn or houses, tents for traders when selling livestocks, chickens, and other items. The Magi a.k.a Wondering Traders are the one who roam around, place to place with the same village to other villages around the over world of Minecraft. The ancient villagers are also on that village to summon the Friend (Iron Golem) and for trading. Originally, the Wondering Traders was once on that place, but even though they have their own village, they still roam to trade with their caravans of llamas. The traders who visited foreign villages prefer ro stay on tents or rent houses... That's how it was and some structure soon might have many variant of structures (not the same pattern as what we have today) that would define the culture, identity, race of the villagers/traders.

My new lore theory for the trail ruins is that they were built by the ancient builder, those who accidentally created a zombie plague. My idea is that, while most of the time they hid in nether fortresses and bastions, when they needed to go to the overworld (for some reason or another), they would use the trail ruins as a way to safely get around below ground where they were safe from zombies. If they had to venture aboveground, they would do so through the tower.
