Dang man you're going to town with the car! I need more downtime to watch all this when my schedule calms down

Yes, I am trying to get her into a good state and have her all clean. Most of life, I have had cars with loads of faults that I have worked around and often ignored. So I would like to get her nice and good and keep her clean (well cleanish).

I just flushed my GM 4T65E transmission w/ 65k miles on it. Your tranni fluid looks like dark, dirty engine oil compared to my old tranni fluid. My tranni was shifting bad and flushing it fixed it. Thinking of buying a GT with 45k miles on it.
@SailingSVPipedream2 ай бұрын
Yes my oil was bad, I am going to change it again in the next month or so. Nice thing about a GT with 45k is it’s not sat too much and you know they can easily make 180k and more without serious issues. Good luck!

Not bad, well just reversed my Volvo in and wrecked the tyre, could have been worse though, if that had been the Maserati, it would have damaged the rim too.

Wow, that didn't look that bad. You're making my todo list longer, but glad you are making these videos. There are going to be good reference. Side bar, fired up my QP yesterday from winter storage, rattled of course, but not bad, ran for about a half hour....itching to get it out... Cheers.

I have to say I have run her a few times now and no rattling with the oil accumulator at all. In fact the starts are very smooth generally now. Have fun in the QP, now we seem to be past the worst of the icing/road grime I will feel happier no subjecting her to salt onslaught.

Hello I very much enjoy your videos. Did you say the car had 125,000 miles on the transmission oil change or was it 25,000 miles? Thank you
@SailingSVPipedream3 ай бұрын
Thanks very much, 125,000 miles. Maserati originally said the gearbox is sealed for life. ZF who make the gearbox now say it should be 60,000 miles.
@dresslikethewineking3 ай бұрын
@@SailingSVPipedream thank you for the reply just to get your opinion I have 54,000 miles on my 2013 Sport and I can’t find anyone to do the service Per Maserati specifications just like you did in the video they all want to flush my transmission since you have 125,000 miles. Do you think I’m OK to just let it go.
@SailingSVPipedream3 ай бұрын
@@dresslikethewineking I would say it should be done around 60,000 miles, that is what ZF says. It is not too difficult. If you are paying someone to do it, it should not be too expensive as the service kit is £200 from Autodoc (original ZF kit) and labour for just oil and filter change should not take more than 1-2 hours with a ramp.

@@SailingSVPipedream thank you very much for your help so I would like to do the transmission service myself of course I only want to change the transmission oil in this case. Would I need to change the filter? If not what would be the procedure to drain the oil and then what would I do? Go through the gear changes? Is it possible that you can share the information with me, by email or on this site, I appreciate it thank you

Are the last 5 digits of the VIN number the last 5 digits of the engine number? Where can I find the engine number?
@SailingSVPipedream10 ай бұрын
I have just looked in my service book and engine number and VIN is in there on first page. For mine the last five digits are very different so certainly on these the last five digits of the VIN are not the engine number.

@@SailingSVPipedream thank you for your answer. I want to buy a Maserati Granturismo in the spring, so I'm eager to watch your videos. I also want to buy a car with improved variators, so with an engine number from 150070. So before buying I will have to lift it and read it on the plate.
@SailingSVPipedream10 ай бұрын
@@quattroporte88 If it has the service record book, it is printed in there too. My oil accumulator seems to be working though, no noises yet! But if you buying and can find one that is past the magic engine number, then yes, makes sense! Just the parts are £1500 or so.

There are two and one is still in there, but I will not be fully happy with it till I put the other back in. So I will wait until it’s warmer and then book a place on a ramp for the day and just go do it.

I thought those transmissions are sealed?
@SailingSVPipedream10 ай бұрын
No, Maserati said the oil was for lifetime, but ZF who make the box say 60.000 miles or six years. They really do need it too. The oil in mine was probably original and quite mucky. It is not really difficult to do and I think specialists do not charge much for the job so worth doing.
