I only have this game on switch. I have steam but do I need to purchase this game on steam and do I have to start over if I get it on steam

If you want to play on Steam, you would have to purchase another copy of the game on Steam. But there's a cloud save feature, so you could play your switch save on steam, too. That's what I do
