Like the third time I smoked weed in my life I was watching this Pelicans-Blazers playoff game. It really wasn’t exciting because AD was cooking Zach Collins specifically the entire game. The announcer was trying so hard to play it up and I remember him saying in the most exaggerated voice “DAVIS POSTING UP THE YOUNGSTER COLLINS” while the Pelicans were up by like 15 with 5 minutes to go lol. You constantly remind me of this and I just think it’s so goofy and it’s gone on for years and I had to finally say it lmao

I thought he was going to be a REALLY good complimentary piece on MIL…he seemed like the perfect guard. Big/tall, could play on or off ball, absolute sniper, good defender. He was 50/42/93 his last year there and 15.6/4.5/3.2 in 28.6MPG. Missed a lot of games Y2, but thought he was gonna stay healthy…had a great Y3 played 64/69g then got hurt. That was really unfortunate. Came back for the G5 in 2nd round and the 6g TOR series. I still think if he could’ve stayed healthy he would’ve been a fantastic kinda like Lonzo Ball esque guard. Not as good on DEF, but that kinda big combo guard and he was crazy efficient. Prolly would’ve been like a 20/5/6/1, 46/40/88 low TOV 3&D combo guard that would be plug and play starter on basically any team. I couldn’t believe IND got him in that S&T for 4/85. I was baffled MIL chose EB bc Bledsoe was p garbage, but obviously they knew his injuries weren’t gonna stop. Still think it was a horrible deal for Bledsoe but they got Jrue so it worked out. I thought DAL should’ve went after Brogdon, perfect guy to play next to Luka. Injuries suck. It’s crazy how talented the league is/was still even tho so many good players got hurt and were never the same during or around that time. Boogie, Hayward, Brogdon, Oladipo, etc. Even guys like TJ Warren, Gary Harris, Jabari Parker, Granger, just a ton of talent. Prolly ppl I am forgetting, p random list, and all not exact same era but yea lol. I’m not even a MIL fan…or any of the teams involved here lol. Just rly liked his game I guess.

It is fun to watch this rebuild because you have pinpointed exactly where us Blazer fans believe things went wrong. Former Blazers GM Neil Olshey really screwed us over with his work in the 2017 draft.

i mean your not wrong but wrong picks happen all the time.. the part where neil screwed us over was settling for mediocrity when we had arguably the best backcourt in league behind steph/klay at the time, closest they got was in 2018-19 cause of two way wings that could defend (aminu/harkless) but when you got a star scoring backcourt like that an multiple first rd exits you gotta either push chips in or trade cj for star forward.. neither happened, he added little pieces around them that never got them over the hump… thinking back to when pascal was offered for cj ugh smh

Most ppl don’t remember how ridiculous Artest was that year before that happened. He was playing at an All NBA level legit. I mean he won DPOY the year prior, All-NBA 3rd team, but that was his only All-NBA season. Somehow only AS season, not popular w fans I guess lmao. But he was starting to take a huge leap on offense…was putting up almost 25ppg in the (only) 7g before it happened, but it didn’t seem like some fluke. Maybe he could’ve been a 25ppg scorer, but obv became a super valuable role player and defensive beast. I’m a DET fan, I was barely a teenager when that happened but it was crazyyyyyy. It was all over the local news for so long, e1 in school talking about it, etc. Wild stuff.

Why? He doesn’t play the actual game much, he creates MyLeague/MyGM content. It’s not like he is a park guy or whatever. There are honestly very few rebuilders that are good at it, that’s fine. It’s a p bad game anyway if we’re being real unfortunately. I do like watching Clique play like PNO sometimes bc he’s rly good, but I wouldn’t watch him if he didn’t do sims and rebuilds etc. way before that. I don’t think Kenny is very good at 2K either…but idr he never plays. I don’t rly watch many rebuilds anymore especially since a lot of the guys I liked watching have changed to doing more general NBA stuff, pods, etc. Pretty hard to think of many who were very good at it regardless.
