Wouldnt it have been a better idea to leave the engines off the wings instead of mounting them for better access to the firewalls so that hoses and all of the other stuff could be attached to the firewalls. Now the engines are in the way which will make it moree difficult to access the firewalls.

What a great project to get back in the air. The big twin Cessnas are a joy to fly. Once you have flown one, you never go back. I’m a Cessna 340 rescue owner. I’m under water in the job and probably should have scrapped it. It is one of the best flying light twins I have ever flown. I’m an older guy and this is probably my last plane. But, I could tell your heart was in the right place and that convinced me to stick around. Your conviction is infectious and proves that in life when things get tough and people doubt you it means you need to double down, push through, and see it to the finish. That is what success is built on. While some of your earlier conceptions and mistakes were concerning you demonstrated that you are capable of learning which is something many in the starlight seem unable to do which is get over themselves. I'm glad I donated. You make the world a slightly better place in these dark times. You are representative of the spirit that built this country. I hope others follow your example.

42 yrs in aviation and I would not have taken on this project, due to my experiences with frame off resto's of street trucks. Always something "else" biting ya in the a**. With a plane its even worse due to the FAA regs, inspections, and certs, unlike a street vehicle, if it runs and moves, its good to go. Vehicle engine overhaul is about 25% of what ya pay for one of yours. A set of Tires and Battery MAYBE cost $1200. Now the wiring and avionics, my specialty back when, is a minor nightmare, most of my trucks have a MAX of 85 general purpose circuits at the bulkhead connector. NOW the real work, I resto'd/fixed a 79 Dodge D-250 Pickup and project was 14 to 15 months, so I feel for ya. BUT the way your attacking this project is a complete resto and FAA won't object when its all done. GREAT JOB Jason.

He knew full well what he was getting into. It didn’t matter then and it doesn’t matter now. He’s getting donations from all his fan boys to cover the costs. And he’s not hurting for funds either, or he wouldn’t own 6 or 8 airplanes. All the angst about putting in/not putting in radar, buying a throttle cable, etc, etc, is just creating content for KZbin. Next week there will be an unforeseen “miracle” and they will have “found” a place with a throttle cable for $800. McFarlane’s will be big news and the savior of the project and it will all create more dramatic content and clicks/donations. And then the cycle repeats.

I forgot about this channel and this project. It's been over a year, according to my watch history, since I have watched anything related to this project. Suddenly, YT has this video on my recommendation page. I'm still a subscriber, but this project has dragged on and on, and I got bored with the lack of real progress mixed with the commercialism of the channel. And now, when I do hear about it, thanks to the sappy YT algorithm, it is of course a video asking for more help with the project. It's great that you have found a cult following, that will apparently pump untold amounts of dollars and views into your project. You have found companies looking to help out how they can, for a simple shout out or advert. You have figured out the algorithm to reality and the common people: have a sappy feel good story, beg for help, show 'progress' while you grow. This project has dragged on long enough. It was fun early on, but just got too... boring, long winded, sappy. Others are correct, you can go buy a new aircraft for what you have into that skeleton already. Cars, boats, motorcycles, airplanes can (and should) be destroyed and recycled. This is no exception. I'm not sorry for unsubbing. Good luck.

Hello Jason!!! In my case. I'm not even an aviation fan. But, when I saw that video with a title saying, Free airplane if I can make the engines run, it got my attention. Is it going to be expensive? Yes Is it crazy to get on a project that big? Yes Can you buy a 401 that it is flying for less money that what you will end up spending? Yes. But, can you buy the satisfaction of accomplishment on flying an airplane on missions to help the people in need that was finance by the people? NO That is priceless. When the plane gets done, everytime it hits the air, it will be an icon of what people can do when they are united, reunite resources and becomes one towards a common goal.

Lots of Trolls here to make themselves feel better . Jason don't read the comments , keep doing what your doing in Sam's honour . And remember the Trolls live here , they are not men but children looking for attention . Keep moving forward , many of us have lost friends in aviation but we keep doing what we love . If anybody can keep moving forward I know you can

Just discovered via Blancolairo,s channel the sad news of Sam’s fatal accident , heart goes out to all at Rebuild Rescue along with Sam’s family, I hope the 401 gets to fly in his honour
@nz540im37 ай бұрын
That guy has insight into what happened from a pilots standpoint and what he knows of aircraft. But not so subtly he ripped rebuild rescue to shreds and accused them of being cowboys who are skirting the rules and are just an influencer channel with no thought of real world risk. One idiot said he was careful with his words. That isn’t true at all

I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your friend and partner in this series, Sam. In our family, we have lost loved ones to aviation --recently, its fresh and raw still. Aviators are a different breed, they absolutely love flying and no doubt Sam was the same as my brother in law. That doesn't help the pain of the loss for those they didn't get a chance to say goodbye to, but it *is* important during the grief to remember they were doing exactly what they loved. If you read this mate, please extend the collective love to Sams family and friends, from all of us fans on youtube. Godspeed to Sam and may he rest in piece, on the wings of angels he will forever be flying.

Thanks for going through all the work still needed on the 401 Jason, really shows the complexity of the project, and the amount of knowledge you've built up on this thing. Great video!

The entire crew aboard the GA-7 leaving out of Punxsutawney should be praying that they weren't involved in a similar incident. 4 large guys, gear, and fuel at max weight (who knows... they could've been over) taking off on a short runway and the stall horn repeatedly sounding after takeoff..... you guys were very luck.

Hi Jason ! I have been following this project from day one . When I heard the start noise of the engine left , I knew this project would be special. This project has taught me everything is achievable if there is will and determination. Can't wait to see phenix fly...

I have been following you since the start of the 401 project, and been amazed by the dedication to this, and also the mission you have for bringing old abandoned airplanes back to life. It is partially responsible for me starting down my long dead dream of learning to fly and getting my pilots license (that and my wife telling me I need to find a new hobby). It’s been a challenge and I’m still waiting for that”Money that will miraculously appear “ 😂. This and other channels like this is what has been helping to keep going. Thanks for doing what you do.

Guys I was lucky enough to have the KZbin algorithm suggest your channel to me back on day one of the bet. I have followed you religiously ever since. I watch many restoration channels where people repair miner's lamps and models of double decker buses but you are doing this with a damn aeroplane! It is just insane and such compelling viewing. I just KNOW you are going to get the 401 flying again - there isn't the slightest doubt in my mind. As for those who have sought to throw a spanner in the works by alerting the authorities to your efforts - they have surely done you a HUGE favour in the long run. If you think, you have an entire filmed catalogue of just exactly how meticulous, careful and safety conscious you have been at EVERY step of the journey. If you had $10 for every time I have heard you say "This piece is probably fine but it has a slight scratch so we are going to replace it" you wouldn't need any more funding. Keep on keeping on guys - you are doing a fantastically good thing and you are doing it fantastically well. All good wishes from the UK.
