Rec Room's Voice Moderation Has To Go

This is a video that I wanted to make for a very long time now. With how volatile the moderation has gotten I simply can't ignore this problem anymore.

The worst part about the voice restriction system is the fact that sometimes you don't even need to say a word to get voice banned Like usually I play with my friends on rec room, I usually type out my responses but even with that, I find myself getting restrictions for up to an hour One time I was sleeping and woke up to find out I was mic banned for 10 hours

depends on your mic quality. and if your in a private room.

1. Voice moderation is still fairly new so depends on when this happened 2. I’m not sure how good it is at detecting and could be bad mic quality 3. It depends on if you’re in a private or public instance, if you are in a private room with just you and your friends you can say anything you want, but if you are in a public instance voice moderation is enabled

I actually quit playing rec room because of the voice moderation system. I’m cool with the concept. It seems really good. But it’s way to buggy and it’s being way to restrictive on what people can say.

Rec room has gone from amazing to absolute TRASH. What have they done with a perfectly good game. It is for money, obviously, but they are failing to get it by som many people quitting so they make an update that tries to make them get more money, but fails, then repeats. Like, really?

Having actually worked there and knowing how the system works, I can assure you that you're probably getting legitimately banned. Something that isn't obvious with voice moderation is that it doesn't immediately ban you when you say something bad, it can take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour. Furthermore everyone starts like saying stuff about how it doesn't do accents well but in fact it very much did and I guess they're just not advertising that enough. If you want to be upset about something they're not doing well maybe point your finger at all of the low effort room stuff and how they are not promoting high effort creators. I think that's something that you can legit stop your subscription over because of how they're letting their high effort creators falter. Thankfully they have been trying to change this but it's still 2 years too late. Meanwhile, slop creators are still bigger than ever. I understand that you mean well with your video and your message but it's a little misguided. Well, I can't go into detail... but I can say that voice moderation is probably the single best tool that Rec Room has had to actually remove people who just come into the game and start throwing out slurs. People might not remember at this point, but that used to be a really big problem.

And another thing I can confirm as that it definitely lacks context for trigger words like "disgusting" and "demented". Saying these words casually while not using them as insults or any negative way to someone has a very high likelihood of voice bans.
