I'm getting this one this year. How has it been holding?
@Vinnykhnguyen Жыл бұрын
Still going strong. I just got rid of it because it was too big for me. The new owner is very satisfied

What did you use to seal those 2 openings?
@Vinnykhnguyen2 жыл бұрын
I called rec tec and they sent me a tube of red high temp sealant.

I’m comparing the Recteq 2500 and the 1250. Do you think that the extra room to 2500 gives you over the 1250 is worth it considering it has a new second rack?
@Vinnykhnguyen3 жыл бұрын
If you like me that like to smoke whole pig, sometime whole ducks or more than 12 racks of ribs. Than yeah you will need that extra room. Or if you have big party all the time than yes with the 2500. I rather go big for the extra room when I need it rather then running out of room. Lol 2500 sq inches to 1250 sq inches. They both awesome smoker it’s just how much room do you need.

@@Vinnykhnguyen Thank you for the response I was thinking the same thing I’ll probably just get the bigger one, but I like some of the new features that the smaller one has

I have the same grill and love it. The cover is a lifesaver for protecting it from rain snow whatever. Above all the food tastes amazing even cooked pizzas on it for that woodfired taste. Mine stays at 180 degrees on extreme smoke most likely it was a pellet issue.

congrats looks amazing

One thing, other than taste, that seems to be impossible to translate in video or pictures of the shear size of this thing. I’m new to smoking (less than a year) and this thing is at least 4 times the size of my pit boss. I bought my pit boss because I didn’t want to break the bank and find out i didn’t like it. So when I saw a department at my job burning off this bad boy, I asked one guy how much this costs. I was expecting something North if $5,000 just based off of the cost of other smokers I’ve seen. I was quite surprised to learn that it was a little more than half of what I expected.

How did you seal the gap that was showing light?
@Vinnykhnguyen2 жыл бұрын
I just call them and they ship me a tube of the red high heat sealant that they used. But I’m sure you can use any sealant that rated for high temp.

Have u gotten your new bfg 2500 wet from rain? I know my rt680 getting wet is a death sentance for the auger motor area. Pellets get wet they swell up then dry like concrete. Looked like in one shot in your video the smoker got rained on even under your cover. Interested to know. Its the only majoe flaw in the pellet smoker unless this new model has that auger channel sealed. Thanks
@Vinnykhnguyen4 жыл бұрын
Yeah i did get it a little wet from the rain. But no problem yet. Thanks for the input. I also bought a cover for it. So I alway keep covered if I don’t get lazy and forget lol.

I have a 380 and a 2500. The 2500 as clogged twice-the 380 has never clogged. I use these grills every week, live in the Midwest- cold temperatures happen. I went to harbor freight and purchased a small wet-dry vacuum-problem solved. I do my cooking, vacuum the pellets out, then burn the remainder out. Once again I use it to cook and bake year round.

How is she holding up? Whats the biggest cons for you? I’m thinking about getting one.
@Vinnykhnguyen Жыл бұрын
She is no longer with me. It was too big for me. The only cons I would say, it’s doesn’t give a lot of smoke flavor into my brisket. But you can get a smoke tube or tray to put some wood chunks in it. So depending if you like strong smoky flavor like you use a wood smoker or mild is ok.

The Rec Tec is the BEST! Super durable, have had ours a few years and never a problem with temperature holding ~ we used Traeger pellets and cheap pellets from a discount store. Previously had a Traeger and after that a Louisiana - neither could hold temp.. the Traeger worked great for jerkey and the Louisiana had the open fire/char feature which I liked. The Rec Tec can cook anything - the temp remains accurate and the wifi feature works great too unless you have weak internet service. Icing on the cake is Rec Tec's customer service - they are like calling your best friend down the street to help resolve an issue.. so friendly and resolution-driven!

Umm for the price you pay to have those gaps on both sides of the drip stack... totally unacceptable! I would have sent it back!
@brianhaynes2763 жыл бұрын
The grease chute itself is sealed. That gap around the chute makes no difference whatsoever.

You should have bought a Yoder ys640 instead
@jackhembree2503 Жыл бұрын
Three of my friends have Yoders, that’s why I have a Recteq. I wanted a ys640 for two years. I already had stick burners. I bought a Recteq 380 to check out pellet grills.
