Seems Yt decided to scrub replies yet again? Whether you left them behind Shawn or somebody else. I have no idea what time YT decided to do this to you, I started watching @ 1:25 PM EST, so, say you put this out originally around 8 or so AM, that'd be a bit over 5 hours later. You're not the only one YT decided to do this too. I noticed this going on yesterday as well with certain folks I watch like "Swedwoods" who's comments were there up to about maybe 10 or so PM EST.

Very reminiscent of the tarp they teach us to build in the 1948 Boy Scout Handbook. This is the most useful of all the Boy Scout handbooks I have ever seen. I think honest feedback sometimes gets interpreted as negative or even hateful. The corporal works his ass off producing great content. He tries different formats and styles in an effort to keep us engaged. I’m not sure he can know what works and what doesn’t without feedback. Keep it up corporal. what i suggest you do is pack a few spring clothes pin with the tarp for the doors. my house curtains don't close to where i want them they allways have a gap. so i overlap the curtains an keep them in the closed overlap position with the spring style clothes pins.

Those nesting cup and bottles are damn near ideal for my setup. The only thing I would say is two is better. That's so you can have a hot drink and hot food at the same time. I have a couple of SIGG bottles as well that fit nicely on my belt kit. That's enough water for a whole day in a moderate climate. That tarp looks ideal too for a one man setup.

8:26 So,.i think, that you make good points about the tarp working better as either a hammock tent, most of the year, or, as a hot tent, with a camping wood stove, during coldest winter. I think that's in its favour. As it allows it to be one item, that suitable in warmer or colder weather.

At around the 6:30 mark, you mention wishing it had a zipper. I'm a hammock camper, and my solution with tarps like this is velcro. I had a cool cottage industry do a custom sew job to attach velcro to either side of either end of my tarp to allow me to do exactly what you were talking about here. Something to consider.

Our host's little pot with bail and handles is very like the old corn boilers, another tried and true design that goes back to pioneer days. You can hardly find them online anymore, whether tin or stainless. Apparently the Cold Handles sell like hotcakes, as well they should. If the Corporal is out, try your local second-hand stores. The backpacking and bushcrafting communities have only just started to discover the joys of a carbon steel skillet of not forged, but rolled steel. The general public hasn't figured it out yet. Get them while you can.

An idea to add a zipper is a construction zipper. It's for putting a door in hoarding on a construction site. It is self adhesive and comes in a 7ft length to be trimmed to fit. Just an idea, I used one to build myself a prototype bedroll and found it at my local hardware store.
@andyking6605 Жыл бұрын
Awesome Job! Tarps are a much better option than a tent! This one is even better, it provides the universal layout design, to fit where you can fit it in, and has a hot stove feature which at this time of the year quickly becomes a must. Thank you for your continued video.

Especially in the PNW you need a tarp/tent configuration: tarp to block the rain from entering your tent every time you go in and out. Tarp also so you can leave the door open when it's raining. I've seen many of these configurations on KZbin and decided they were for me. I just like the puptent design, so I finally purchased an MSR Twin Sisters and the mating rain fly that matches up with the door. My plan is to install a stove jack in the rain fly near the tent so I can lie in the tent and feed the stove outside the door, or put down a rug or cowhide under the fly and hang with hot chocolate in the most serious rainstorms. In the desert, I'm hoping the puptent can be moved up under the fly some more for double shade. I wanted to get the larger MSR Twin Brothers and put the stove directly into that. It was a beautiful design but they don't make it anymore. Anyway, that big one didn't mate with the rain fly. Now MSR doesn't make any of these products anymore. Bad decision.
