An interesting question, but not terribly relevant. I never have been crazy about the way some try to beatify the victim in cases like this. George Floyd had issues... But that is ultimately not what the focus should be. We can acknowledge that someone wasn't an exemplar and also acknowledge that what happened to them should never happen again. Its not a stretch of anyone's imagination to see that that a few wrong ideas and it could be your friend or family going through it. How Floyd was killed was wrong regardless who Floyd was.

@@juliecrawley9745 that is your assumption not mine and I question your character for assuming things like this. It's also a void question because if he went into the police car we wouldn't be talking about this. I personally would have rather seen Floyd punished and the situation resolved quickly but Floyd prevented that from happening. He was a grown man that made decisions that escalated the situation when it didn't have to escalate. Treat Floyd like an adult and not like some child that didn't know what he was doing. He could have acted differently. Floyd played an important part in the whole build up. Put yourself in the position of the officers, watch the full video from the Bodycam and then put yourself in the position of Floyd. Would you have paid with a fake 20 dollar bill knowing it was fake? Would you have refused the request of the staff to either return the cigarettes or pay with real money so they didn't have to call the police? Would you have cooperated with the officers or would you be uncooperative? Would you put up a physical fight when you got close to the police car claiming that you can't breath and have claustrophobia even though you just sat in a car and that was fine? There is a long build up to what is shown in the short videos going around in the internet and even in these videos you can see that Floyd was able to raise his head, neck and parts of his upper body to turn his head. If the officer applied pressure with his weight Floyd wouldn't be able to do that so easily.

Letting Floyd go was not an option, Floyd made that clear with his behaviour. Also letting people who repeatedly commit violent crimes walk free to do as they please seems pretty wrong to me and dangerous for innocent people. The full bodycam video is available to see if you want to as well as the toxicology report of Floyds blood sample, an autopsy and the police training manual where the knee on the neck is described as a submission hold. In the short clip that the prosecution showed it was also clear to see that Floyd could lift up his neck and turn his head as he did multiple times so I'd guess the pressure on the neck wasn't to severe.

The explosive shimmy testimony shut the court down" And the media technical problems. The black witness was explosive!!! A chokehold, choke, stranglehold or, in Judo, shime-waza (Japanese: 絞技, lit. 'constriction technique') is a general term for a grappling hold that critically reduces or prevents either air (choking) or blood (strangling) from passing through the neck of an opponent. The Asian officer taught or been training them that technique; and the officer wanted to test it on someone.

Comments by guests on media make sense. I understand how the black community will say 'I wonder how you just ignore an almost 10 minute snuff film by Chauvin.' Also, I agree that Erik N. actually disrespected most people who saw the film, and the concerned bystanders - who were telling the truth. 'Check his pulse, he's not breathing.' What kind of a country puts on a show in public of a policeman killing a black man? And then allows the man killed to have character assasination (who is death by cop), and evidence about Chauvin is silent, and their working bouncer relationship, and Chauvin's past use of force complaints. My anger is simmering, and my anger concerns why aren't we hearing about the person who is on trial.

It is interesting how George Floyd was just fine in the store. More interesting is none of the four officers had their body cams on. In fact, there is no footage of George Floyd being combative, or a treat to the officers. George Floyd was was able to walk across the street under his own power to the patrol car just fine. Once in the back seat of the patrol car he complained about being uncomfortable. Once in the car, why did not the police just transport him to the station. There is no explanation of why he was pulled out of the car, since he was already in the car. Once out of the car George Floyd was not combative. In fact there is no footage of George Floyd being combative, or a treat to the officers. If George Floyd had pre existing conditions or was on legal or illegal drugs and was just fine before his encounter with these officers, it is a clear indication, these officers contributed to his death. Unfortunately if this is proven, we will see either the jury instructions from the judge, or the judge in sentencing resort to a percentage of contribution to George Floyd's death, be used to reduce the conviction. There is no mention that Derek Chauvin knew George Floyd from a club. So, with this we need to know if there was some bad blood between them. The prosecutor does not seem to be putting on his best case, especially since he is not bring the families autopsy report into the case which goes contrary to the state examiner's report. Being Black, I would think the state's examiner's loyalty is with the police not a private citizen. There would also be civil suit ramifications in the back of his mind that he may feel responsible for. So, deep down, the examiner has more reasons to be partial. I see this justice system as being created by the likes of Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham. No, there will not be justice as we know justice would be mead out to Black men. It will be watered down, and they will find some kind of justification to water it down. No differently than the second impeachment trial of Trump. It is clear there is two justice systems in the United States, one for Blacks and one for whites. Welcome to America.

I suggest you look at ALL of the videos, ESPECIALLY, the police body cams... There was zero damage to the trachea(windpipe) OR neck of Floyd. In fact, the knee of Chauvin was not on Floyd's neck, but, on Floyd's upper-right back, on the right side of his upper trapezius. And, the shin of Chauvin was across the BACK of the neck of Floyd. No air "choke" OR "blood choke" whatsoever. One can see this from the body cams of Cauvin and the other police, who were RIGHT ABOVE Floyd. The forst tape that went out only showed the incident after FLoyd was put down on the ground- at HIS request. And, it was shot from many meters away. One thing that will sink Chauvin is the fact that once the person is under control, and he was under control verbal is not part of that while he was crying out for help, and you hear the one officer making excuses for the force by stating "he's a drug addict...crack head..." This being while the crowd was begging them to stop, that same officer trying to shield the murder that was taking place, and the officer has to by law render aide once a person is in distress. Secondly, what I did not see when I watched the video the first time is the body movement by Chauven he actually was shifting his weight to apply more lethal pressure to his neck, which the bystander who is trained in martial arts who saw what he was doing (that particular move) which in most states is illegal, and this was brought up in the opening statements, this is going to be a big problem for Chauvin since all his fellow officers including the Cheif of police will testify to just that, this is what will sink him under the laws of lethal force. That said ...also witnesses the one who will be the most important is the trained licensed EMT fire, who begged for them to stop, to check his pulse, and also to and render aid, she made very clear who she was, and what she did, and what dept she was from, and they still all ignored those orders...they may have skated through all the other cases, but this one will move history, and now with the law passed which will hold all officers accountable now no more immunity, this is way overdue. The fear, and the anger after viewing this again today was off the rails for me, what you have here is a man who walks with evil!!!

And honestly I'm very frustrated at the defense trying to say these police officers were distracted by the crowd. The crowd was horrified at watching what was unfolding right before their eyes, a murder in Daylight by local law enforcement. The crowd was only screaming that they needed to help this victim on the ground with a police officer on his neck until he became lifeless. Their defense is absurd and I am disgusted and embarrassed because the video clearly shows the officer doing nothing but sitting on his neck with his hands in his pocket. Redinger III violated his employer's policy regarding the used of chokehold and lied about it by not reporting/mentioning it in his police report. Despite knowing this "material fact" (blatant perjury) the SAO for 6th judicial circuit in cahoots with the Pinellas Sheriff prosecuted the bogus charges against me (initially charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence, the SAO nolle prosequi the underlying charge but charged me with trespass after warning more than 10 months after my illegal arrest). Regarding Derek Chauvin: The only transgressions that I could find were the following: According to Communities Against Police Brutality, a Minnesota nonprofit that created a database of complaints against officers in the state, Chauvin received oral reprimands for using a "demeaning tone," "derogatory language" and other language that merited discipline. Neither the nonprofit database nor the Minneapolis internal affairs public summary include dates or descriptions that incited the complaints. Chauvin had a reputation for combative exchanges, but he also had a few accolades over his 19-year career Chauvin was also praised at various points in his career, according to the Star Tribune - two women commended him in 2008 and 2013 after he handled domestic-violence calls, and he was awarded a Medal of Commendation in 2008 after he disarmed a man during one of his nightclub security shifts. He was even recommended for a Medal of Valor in 2006 in connection with the fatal police shooting of Wayne Reyes, according to the Star Tribune. Six officers shot at Reyes while responding to a report that he had stabbed two people; the police said they opened fire after Reyes pulled out a shotgun. Now, keep in mind, that Floyd once put a gun to the belly of a pregnant woman in a home invasion in which he was involved... what kind of a monster DOES that?

The video does not prove murder. I can kneel in the same position with nothing but air under my knee which means ZERO pressure. The key is the left foot which is at an angle opposing the downward movement of the left knee. It is impossible from the video to prove there was ANY pressure on Floyd's neck. The vertical posture of the cop and his hand in the left pocket is very important because it DOES indicate a controled position and avoidance to apply any pressure to his neck. Do it. Try it. Get down on the floor and you can elevate your left knee for hours let alone 9 minutes.
