Receipt Organizer for Home Office Organization

I use the same system for monthly bills, and paperwork pertaining to each bill. For example, each shopping channel I order from: the receipts for the items, credit card user agreement, warranty info, billing statements, etc all fit into one slot. LOVE your bright colors... will have to get that kind! TFS!

My boyfriend uses envelopes and marks the outside with the subject+year and keeps them all together in a box (in order, naturally). Works great and looks great. Doesn't take up as much space as letter sized folders if you only get smaller receipts.

My suggestion for labeling tabs would be to look at the categories you are saving them for on your tax return. There are categories on your Schedule C if you have a small business or on your Schedule A if you itemize. Saving grocery receipts may be a waste of time unless you run a daycare. But saving prescription receipts, if you itemize, is important. P.S. I love the organizer! I have the same one in check size that I organize my labels for product in. The dividers are attached at the bottom.

haha great idea! I gave my mother one of these a few months ago because she likes to keep track of all her monthly bills for the year and it works out great and whenever i go over to her home i don't have to nag her about having mail all over the place when i just need a piece of paper LOL.

Sara, an idea: Try making two copies? Then reference the other (on both) so that you can find them both easily in their appropriate categories.

We can’t keep like groceries and labels like that cuz we always end up getting random stuff at Walmart instead of getting what we were supposed to lol! So we just do it my store like Walmart, gas stations, fast food etc. it’s much easier for my family to remember WHERE we got it then to remember WHAT we got.

what do you do for expensive equipment w/ warranty info? Do you keep those reciepts separate? I'm trying to come up with a system that will help me to remember to deduct those items come tax time, but also keep up with the receipt should the item break or i need to return it for any reason.

Any suggestions on organizing receipts with different categories? For instance, If I buy a vinyl sign for my car at the same time I buy business cards? The vinyl for my car would be advertising but the cards would be business supplies but it's all on the same invoice. Or when I buy stock for my business and business cards in the same transaction? Those are definitely two different categories but on the same invoice.

What label maker did you use? How much did it cost? Can you please provide a link for it & perhaps consider doing a video on how to make labels for this acordian organizer? Any tips on non tech savy ways to make the labels? ( ex/ maybe just cutting out paper to size, writing on & a little scotch tape to the back to hold or a paper clip for extra hold) Thank you!

Alejandra, can you give an advice on how to keep record and be organized in terms of shopping for stuff? I'm a visual person and I have so many lists all over the house and when I do have money to spend on things I need it's mostly not planned and I never refer to my "things to buy" list. The only place I've been able to find a file like this here in the UK is amazon. It's called Europa 13 Pocket Expanding File Assorted. Just as colourful but doesn't do the whole standing on its own thing. If you have a Staples near you that's another option, but WHSmith wasn't that great :(
