Hello Sarah.....the dark duck is actually a decoy that would be set in the water to float and lure in the ducks flying over. My Grandfather was a hunter, trapper and shrimper. He actually made a living off the land. Great finds!

That's a nice eclectic collection of quality items. I love that they all come from antique stores, so they have a history or story behind them, even if we don't know what it is. You always find such lovely things wherever you shop, it's fun to see what you pick up and what you actually take home. You have some great finds this trip! I’ve seen LB baskets in many vintage/antique stores and are all over the place on eBay. I personally have no interest in selling what I’ve got, but do not use or display almost any of it anymore. 😕

I love your finds! Love that you bought hubby the duck decoys. I've been collecting ducks, geese, swans for 40 + years. They don't have to be vintage or antique, but most are. Now that I'm retired, glad that I bought when prices were lower from years ago. Love your home!!

It is pricey for sure (85 in Canada) but what a beautiful addition. I found two wooden duck decoys at Goodwill this week for $3 each. They look old, but I'm not sure if they are or not - would love to know. They don't have any color on them, solid wood, and their heads swivel. They have iron plates on the bottom, but no identifying name or anything.
