My wife bought one of these about 4 months ago. We had a Henry before which we had for about 9 years. It was only because of the amazing amount of advertising, marketing and hype about the G-tech air ram that she bought it and I took the Henry to use in work. Well, what can I say about the G-tech air ram?... If I took a battered old hair brush, tied it to a piece of wood, wound elastic bands around it all to make it spin and went around the floor with it, it would do a far better job than the G-tech air ram. It's nothing more than a very old design (a powered, rotating brush) reinvented through clever marketing. I go over and over the same little bits on the floor and it just does not pick it up, it just pushes it around or it flies back out. For the price they ask for it, what a let down. Ordered a new Dyson D40 which is being delivered today.

The only problem I had with a battery-powered vacuum that I bought was it didn't handle high pile carpeting very well. The spinning brushes which worked fine on standard carpet and bare floors almost ground to a halt on the high pile carpets I have in my living room and bedroom. It also didn't do a very good job of picking up dog hair. I returned it because of these reasons. Just something to keep in mind if you are considering something like this.

There is a design flaw with this particular model. If anything gets caught in the powered brushes and they stop rotating while the drive motor is on, the metal drive cog which rotates the nylon drive cog for the brushes will strip/melt the nylon cog, making it useless. The brushes will no longer rotate, the machine makes a horrible noise, and it will not pick up any dirt. The replacement cog costs about £19.00, is difficult to replace (it took me about 45 minutes to strip the machine down to gain access, replace the cog, and rebuild the machine). The machine worked for about 20 minutes before burning out again. The newer models may or may not have this problem.

I've had this vacuum, except it's sold by Bissell in Australia. I've not found it amazing, it's alright but very noisy. I wouldn't worry about the lid exactly as when it's on the suction holds it to the vacuum. I instead of the Air Ram got the Vax Air Cordless, which looks like the vacuum cleaner you've got, except battery powered, and it comes with 2 batteries. It's sold as a Vax Air Cordless in Australia but is sold as a Hoover Air Cordless elsewhere and is exactly like a plug-in upright vacuum, except it's cordless.

Hi, we have one of these: AEG : Ergorapido 2-in-1 Plus Lithium BRUSHROLLCLEAN Cordless Cleaner Review and if we skip the shorter running time, inaccesible filter (sponge, the last one / close to the engine) and impossible battery replacement.. it also can be really good choice. It has amazing feature: leds which allows you to clean the shaded places and see dust invisible in daylight by stronger and different angle of light, better dust container (comparing this Gtech).. and it looks more flexible because it's much lighter and has got the removable base so you can clean other places like windows, cars, etc. Then only one really bad thing is: the battery. We use it really often and after 2 years it went from 25-30min to 10-15min. You can replace it only by the external hardware service company (of course losing warranty) and as far as I know batteries are localized near the engine so it's not that easy and that cheap as we firstly thought.

Almost all cordless vacuums are likely to be little more than a cordless sweeper, with a small fan to pick up very light objects like fluff. My personal choice is an old Dyson, dc07 that I got for free as it was dying and was going to the skip. £4 for a pair of new brushes for the motor and a good clean and it's like new new. Most modern cordless ones are full of complex circuits which are a pain to fix, when they are actually fixable at all. I have one button or a wiring fault. There is nothing else electronic that can go wrong. I currently have about 8 vacuums as I like repairing them for fun.

Just purchased this vacuum cleaner last month. My husband and I have issues with our backs. Our old vacuum was heavy and awkward so we've been searching for a new one for several months. We took a risk and ordered a GTECH Air Ram through an online Groupon special. This vacuum is a dream. Truthfully, it's so easy to use that I vacuum several times a week now. The suction is strong but still easily glides across the floor. It's wonderful to move about the house without stopping to unplug a cord and search for another outlet. Nothing but praise for this vacuum cleaner.

Hi Matt, in the video you showed the USB functionality that allows you to change the settings like for example: the speed of the fan. Now the USB lead, connects to the battery. Do you know that, if you have a second battery, you can change the settings of that second battery in, for example: ECO Mode, and the other battery on High Power Mode? In my house upstairs, I wouldn't need the higher power mode, the eco mode would be just fine. And I think it would be easier just to swap the battery than to plug it in to my computer everytime. But downstairs, the higher power mode would me much more handy. As always, a very nice video Matt! :-)

Eeek so much carpet. You're distressing my inner scandinavian! The runes proclaim anyone walking around with shoes indoors will be smithen and struck down by Thor himself. :P The UK fascination with uprights is also interesting, or do you use them as an addition to the normal ones with a hose? Washing the filter once a month is way too much work, as is needing emptying that small capacity dust container often. Final worry is that it seems quite weak, the spec label before 2m says 100W, and of that maybe 20% translates into actual sucking power. For comparison my Electrolux with 1600W input results in an effective sucking power of ~340W, and I still wish for more power at times.

The battery is an issue for me. Charging for 4 hours and half an hour running time is not good enough. In size of this battery they could fit EASILY at lesat 5000-6000 mAh. Instead we have 2000 mAh. And the price of the new battery 65 pounds? Not for me. This productwill make me forget about the cable but at the same time annoy with charging batteries and less flexibility ass well ass performance (typical VC has 2000 Watt).

I think its an expensive gimmick, you still have to empty it quite often, clean filters and get the dust cloud, also it has no attachments, Ive had a £25 Hoover 1700W cylinder for years with a long pipe so I can do a room and THE STAIRS without moving it, The bags are dirt cheap and only need chaning once a month with no dust to breath in, Its never broke down and has no parts to go wrong, If I had £200 spare I wouldnt buy GTech

Don't buy from Gtech. The Gtech ar20, product itself has the chance to be one of the best in the UK, however it's has a design fault with the handle which renders it useless after just months of use. The biggest problem with Gtech is the customer support they say that they have never heard of any particular fault before and this is the first time. it's impossible not to have had this fault reported before as the handle is kept on with two very flimsy tabs made from plastic that fatigue and break within months of using the device. Gtech or refusing to to take ownership of the fault and provide a worthy replacement what's more they want to charge customers an extra £15 plus delivery for exactly the same handle that will also break within months of use.

I have had one for about a year, take my advice, dont buy it. It just doesnt pick stuff up very well and the hairbrush like roller thing gets tangled up with hair etc and is a right pain to clean properly, involving unscrewing the bottom half of the thing because it hasnt got a quick release. My £45 Samsung vacuum is 10 times as good as this so the fact that this thing is so expensive is a right con really. It does look nice and the twisty handle is a good bit of design though.
