Since I started pottery in 1964 there have been so many strides forward. I watch all and any KZbin videos and I will always learn something new. I have been potting since 1964 and I am still loving the process and learning.Pottery whether you have practised for one day or 40 years, there is always something new.

I love this! Reclaiming clay was the main reason I love clay so much. If I don’t love it I reclaim it even if it is bone dry. Thank you so much for sharing this. My reclaim bucket is 5lt as I only have a small unit. I do use a pillow case as I put the clay in the pillow case on the plaster slab. Makes it easier to flip 😊

Best way by far 👍 I use a large plaster bat I made in a cardboard box! Being nearly 50 and been doing pottery over 25 years…. I will use power tools to mix and slam wedging as my body aches these’d days!! Pottery can be quite harsh in one’s body over the years.

Running fingers down the cross section of the reclaim block to test how blended the layers are is an excellent tip! Thank you for the awesome video!

its the way i do it lol. the best part i like about reclaiming is that its free clay. years ago i would of thought it out. i know not good. i learned that my profits are in reclaim. thanks for sharing.

I'm so glad you all just put it into one bucket too, that's how I instinctively started doing it!

I love working with reclaim (because centering that beautiful clay is so easy most of the time!!) that I sometimes feel sad opening a new bag of clay BUT I also love working with a new bag of clay because I don't have to wedge because I'm too broke for a pug mill nor do I have the space!! :) Always looking forward to your Sunday videos!! :D

Picked up some pre-made plaster bats today from my local in Seattle. Was ready to cast them myself, but the material cost was not far off and not having to wait for them to dry fully was a bonus. Now drying out my first batch of reclaim, and excited to see how it goes! Spoiler: watching doesn't make the clay dry faster!

Spot on! I’ve been doing this since I started working with Clay! Am I lazy? Am I efficient? I won’t even judge myself on this, but I do know that it’s easy, and that is what I am after! Thank you for sharing this.

Totally agree with you about the silly pillowcase method. After trying it twice, I realized how much extra work was involved over the simple scoop onto a plaster bat system. 😁

I’ve always done it this way because I thought it was strange to dry then wet it again 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Then when it’s mixed and wet I make colored clay with some of it while it’s really soft and mixable. 😎

I enjoyed watching this video, thank-you for it. Question: I have some clay I got cheaply because it's got mold from being stored outside a very long time in its bags. Is there any special technique to reclaiming it, or just the same procedure?

I slam in smaller layers - helps to avoid carpal tunnel. Wedging kills me sometimes

Rather than a plaster bat (which is too involved for me to make), I've been using a piece of drywall. It works very well. Cheers.

They’re ikea bins and you can buy the casters which attach 🥰

I made plaster batts and did my very first reclaim, and when I pealed the clay away from the bat, some plaster pulled off the bat and ruined my clay 😑 what did I do wrong!?!

Personally as someone who just generally finds all thoughtless/needless wasting of resources to be extremely irksome, regarding ceramics my prefered method tends to be reclayming it.... .. .
