If you get time in the spring I would look at doing a control burn around those foundations then you could stake them so you know exactly where they are. Might be able to even get the local Fire Department out there, where they might use it as practise.

In East Arkansas there is an alluvial ridge that runs and basically for over 100 miles and it's mostly gravel and silty sand and clay loam some of it is decent cattle land. In June, July and August when its dry some of the pastures will occasionally have a very green spot out there, don't drive across or you'll be stuck it is a spring seep. A friend of mine years ago took a dirt pan and a dozer and built a cattle pond with one !!!

Wish I could find an old flail chopper down here. I think it would do a better job on weeds. Everyone down here uses Rotary mowers. Your chopper left a nice clean path. Wouldn’t the bears be a bigger problem with pumpkins? Down here coyotes are hell on cantaloupes and watermelons. They seems to know exactly when they are ripe. They with take a few bites then move on to another one. Great to hear the little guy asking you a million questions. He wants to learn everything. As others have said, you are a great dad.
@trinitydairy3 жыл бұрын
Not sure about bears, everyone told me deer are bad. I had no idea coyotes would eat fruit.

I enjoyed your video Alan, if that was my land I'd keep the grass area where you can work in the equipments if you don't want to get covered in dirt and mud, do you have shelter belts in that area?
@trinitydairy3 жыл бұрын
I would keep it grass, but it needs to be plowed, because it's very rough. We don't really have shelter belts, but we have lots of woods around, and that helps.

You have so much high producing land / pasture ! Control the weeds / trees ! Use a spring tooth cultivator ........scratch it multiple times....smooth it off. No real need to plow it up. My father had multiple rock hills he never could pass over. I helped him clean up the rocks.... used the field cultivator and now its smooth. can cut hay over it and all. Also.... have a coop mix your seed in with the fertilizer....... spread it.... and culti-pack it in. They can calibrate it at your desired spread width. No need for a grain drill.
