Good lord that's a clean ass build. Love that you have the winch tucked super low so it doesn't restrict airflow. Also love that black powdercoated body armor on the sides. Clean ass welds all around, too. Very, very well done.

That's an awesome Jeep! A lot of really creative fabrication work, definitely motivating to see a build like this. I feel a bit more comfortable now running 35's on my Dana 44's.

Wow what a nice jeep, I'm not keen on the dash but you can clearly see the attention to detail on that and every aspect, to say I'm jealous would be an understatement

I think one thing to consider as far as the dana 44’s on 40’s with the recoil tj and your yj is that he is still running the 4.0 where as you are going LS. With more power you stand a greater chance of breakage. I mean conservative driving will go a long ways but if you get bound up and apply too much power breaks occur at any power level but certainly more likely in your build than his. Not to be the net sayer here just saying he has the advantage in lack of power
@altered_life3 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely correct 😅 hahaha I will for sure have to watch myself when it comes to throttle control as well as being bound up and body hop with the leaf springs. I for sure will break something at some point but I believe with the weight of the rig and proper driving technique I should be able to hang with the 1 ton fellas lol. Time will tell though, in the mean time I definitely plan on doing a good bit of upgrading to the axles before really giving it the beans. I appreciate the comment and you supporting the channel. Thanks Cordy 👍🏼🍻
@RecoilOff-Road3 жыл бұрын
Well said Cordy. I’ve always been a pretty conservative wheeler so that was another big factoring my decision to pull the trigger on the 40” Mickeys. That and the fact that the 44s are significantly lighter than say a d60/14b. 👍🏼

I have a 90 yj. I've got 12 bolt axles under it from an 85 k5 blazer but I want to go ahead and ditch the leaf springs. I'm thinking jk or tj Dana 44s. What would you recommend if you were in my shoes?

I know Steel-it does have specific instructions on how to prep before coating. Definitely having a sanded etched surface is key but I’m not sure exactly what he did to prep though

Idk if I would feel safe in that thing as sweet as it looks. Running one tack weld after another is not a weld and not strong.

So is that a MotoBilt stubby front bumper on the rear?

I’m pretty sure that is the bumper that comes with the Motobilt back half kit and then Jordan modified it to be winch capable.

Those jk 44s aren't really 44s. They're more like a 45 or 46 than anything. They're beefier and not really compatible with other 44s. Those are both badass jeeps

Definitely didn’t see the project going this far lol but we’ll see how they hold up. If I was to start fresh again I would go 60’s but the overall weight difference is definitely huge so 🤞🏻here’s to hoping the light weight will be what keeps me from destroying them 😂
