It sounds simple but you are so correct about sticking with the same focal length with shooting Real Estate, or anything else for that matter. Need to switch that up a bit on my next shoot. That for the reminder and video.

The houses I’ve been doing are on the smaller side and I struggle to capture the entire room with my 12-35 on my GH5. Judging by your other video, the Leica 8-18 looks like that’s the way to go. Thanks mate!

Do you use any lights for your real estate video? What if some homes have a mix of incandescent and daylight bulbs? How do you white balance that? Or if the weather isn't cooperating and the lighting is not enoug, do you nist crank up ISO or do you bring out lights

Thank you for the video Grant. Is this still the kit you use in 2020? I was wondering whether you recommend going wider such as 12mm? Many thanks, Robin

Grant, I only have the SEL 16-50mm Sony PZ and the Sony FE 50mm f/2.8 Macro. Is that enough until I get a wider angle lens?

What aperture are you using throughout most of your real estate shots? And are you using auto or manuel focus?
@GrantJohnstonVideos
@GrantJohnstonVideos 5 жыл бұрын
Aperture varies from shot to shot but I try not to go lower than f4. Focus like all my other settings is always in manual mode.

Thanks for the tip Grant, it's nice to see you are using my favorite camera the GH5 to shoot Real Estate. Most Real Estate videos you find on KZbin are shot using a Sony or Canon camera. I will note, if the new GH6 doesn't have certain features I'm looking for. I will upgrade to the Sony a9ii.

Which program do you find best when editing real estate videos?
@GrantJohnstonVideos
@GrantJohnstonVideos Жыл бұрын
I think all the editing programs are more than capable these days and its more of a case of hanging your hat on a program that suits you and learning it well. I use FCPX mainly because I had it on my Macbook and have just stuck with it. I like it.

Hi grant, Will be shooting Luxury Real estate videos with my gh5. Its more of an interview (agent and interviewer) walk through style shoot with b-roll mixed in. What would you recommend between 7-14 oly or the 8-18? Is constant 2.8f and 1mm (7mm) of the oly more important than parfocal, easy nd thread, step-less aperture? Both lenses seem to give weird distortion in the background with any harsh movements (maybes gh5 ibs causes this). I will be shooting handheld. Any help would be much appreciated. Been really stuck on this. Cheers

Both great lenses but have a constant aperture lens for video work is definitely a plus. Haven’t noticed any weird distortion in the background on my 8-18mm lens. Cheers

@@GrantJohnstonVideos Thanks for the reply! I guess it boils down to constant aperture vs ND filters for when shooting outside shots of the property.. will have to figure out whats more important

Hi there, I have a question about FAA and drone video. Is it absolutely required if youre doing real estate video for agents? Or can you do it and not worry about it? Thanks, love your content and hope you see this! :)

To use a drone commercially in the US (get paid for it) then yes, you need the FAA 107 cert.

Giday Grant I’ve been asked to do some real estate videos I have a GH5 I was going to use my 12-35mm Panasonic lens a Panasonic 14mm 1.8, Olympus 17mm 1.8 for these jobs I have an 80 to 200 Tamron and 24 to 70 Tamron as well and just experiment with a couple of properties to see what works what doesn’t. What are your thoughts regarding these lenses? Cheers John
@GrantJohnstonVideos
@GrantJohnstonVideos 5 жыл бұрын
Hi - all those lenses more than capable, my only comment would be that you may want a wider lens for interiors especially in smaller rooms. My go to is the 8-18mm lens.

@@GrantJohnstonVideos I'm just now looking at this genre of photography and video. Pricing for photos and videos for all genres varies widely by market. For real estate it also varies by the property. I think some charge a rate per square foot. I'm leaning toward a rate as a percentage of the initial listing price with a minimum or maybe a rate per room. I want to make it simple for all involved.
