Would love for you to develop another complete system..a bit larger and for those wanting to go on to an “intermediate” level or more advanced level. Maybe just for corals? “Hello Reef My First Reef Tank!” Learning so much with this! 🎉

Some very good tips here Matthew. If you get into a routine with water changes and adding important trace elements your corals and inhabitants will thank you.

Think that people stress more these days over this stuff, yes it's good practice to keep things stable and within certain parameters. I remember over 20 years ago we had no ato and relied on a line on the tank and used to top up with a jug once a week ☺ Water changes are a beginners best friend weekly or every two weeks and you can pretty much stop things getting to bad or at least hold them in check until you get better understanding. Great video salute from across the pond.

I couldn't agree with you any MORE about the water changes. If I could convince every beginner just how important a water change is, it would change their entire trajectory in this hobby! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! -Matthew

140 gallon Red Sea 525 Monthly water change at 40%? Or Weekly at 20%?

Personally, I think doing more smaller changes is by far better. Less shock for your animals, and it keeps you in the habit! ;-)

Hi is that possible salinity 1026 and magnesium 930 and Alk 5.1
@HelloReef
@HelloReef 2 ай бұрын
Hi there, I'm not sure exactly what you are asking, but those Alk and Mg numbers are very low. I'm actually not sure if fish/coral could live with an alkalinity that low. You may be okay in a fish only tank, but even snails and hermit crabs would struggle to build their exoskeletons with such low alk and mg.

Hello, in my aquarium, the parameters change a lot, especially magnesium and KH. Is it possible that it is due to the sand inside the aquarium?
@HelloReef
@HelloReef 4 ай бұрын
Unlikely if you used reef sand and not something like playground sand. Are the fluctuating parameters causing any. noticeable problems with your tank?

@@HelloReef Yes, there are many parameter changes in my aquarium. I used terrarium sand for the aquarium

Hmm... I'm not familiar with how terrarium sand would effect a reef aquarium. That could be the problem.

Problem i had when initially starting was listening to info that said things not that important. Wasnt until i got into Jake Adams Chris Meckley and a local fish store who go me into more stable parameters pods and icp tests that things started to grow and not doe after a 2 to 6 month period. I also think that corals should be staryed before fish. Had gotten some tanks that in a few months tripple in size .harder to keep nitrates and phosphates low Water quality and expanded cuc and microbiome are key. Realize you dont want to scare the newbies....could go into how to stabalize w/o automuzation. Pros and cons. Just a thought

This is great information, and you hit the nail on the head about not wanting to scare beginners. But for any beginners reading this, Scott is right. But don't stress about it yet. There are other things to learn before becoming a master chemist. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment Scott... You are appreciated... and right! :-)
