I always listen to sheick Hamza youssef, he is a very knowledgeable and a highly spiritual as cholar. I find myself disagreeing with the Sheick regarding abstaining from understanding the Coran by oneself and limiting oneself merely to scholar explanationa. Many times i find myself navigating the coran in an updated way and relevant to my own experiences whereas the scholars explanations are mostly are the production of previous studies that do not suit our modern times.

Alhumduillah I agree with most of what you stated about the Qur'an. However, I disagree with some of your statements. The Holy Quran is a living breathing revelation. Meaning, it explains every age, every time period. However, human beings only understand the age they are in and some historical records, provided the historical records were not corrupted. So human understanding is limited by time. The Quran is not. Thus, Allah gives two types of knowledge. One that is plain and clear. The basic foundation of knowledge for every age and time period. This can be understood as the commandments of Allah that are handed down. But Allah gave a second knowledge in Quran one that can only be explained once it comes into existence. This knowledge is not plain and clear and can be interpreted. But the interpretion by man is based on what he sees in the time he lives and historical records and proofs. The entire Quran is not handed down knowledge because certain knowledge contained within it will only be seen and understood at the time decreed by Allah to come into existence. To the answer the questions the people will have during any given time frame. So, there is no scholar who can interpret the entire Quran where it is handed down generation to generation because certain knowledge contained is unknown until the time decreed by Allah. It is impossible because human beings are limited by time and can not fly into the future. Any nterpretation 500 years ago can not be taken as the only interpretation, especially if it does not answer the questions of the age while being completely in conformity with the system of knowledge contained in Quran. Whereas, Allah answers every question for every age before the questions are asked because Allah is not limited by time. If anyone disagrees, I ask what questions will people have 70 years from now and where in Quran will you find the answer to give them. Allah says the Quran explains all things. But if we are not alive 70 years from now, we will not know what questions the Quran will explain, so that is knowledge in Quran this generation did not hand down. Mashallah

I wanted to share this observation from my studies but think of what I will say like this. A group of intelligent and unintelligent people are listening to a news story: in this news story things are being described about the event. The event was an accident and the description was so detailed that the intelligent people could picture the scene as if they were there, and all of them when given a notebook and colored pens could draw the scene, if they show each other all their photos will look similar regardless of artistic capability due to their “understanding” yet the unintelligent due to their lack of good memory, their heedless lack of intelligence would draw pictures mostly differing from each other and not at all like the scene. What im trying to get to with this long parable is the fact that language is the building block but not the whole. Language is only to get someone to a meaning of what something “is”. You can describe the color red all you want to a blind person but they wont get it unless they actually see the color. Language gives a man the tools to find a “meaning” themselves. But like the parable above, the person with the best capability will extract the most “meaning” and get the best and most accurate picture. So too is everything, since everything in reality has meaning. Humans are unique in their ability to grasp meaning and continue to look for meaning. Use the Quran to purify our hearts so the meanings can penetrate us, when the “light” of meanings enter our heart, in that is true knowledge.
